not sure. the euro-spec civic is not officially sold outside of europe (built in swindon england i think) and was not designed with other world markets in mind. i'm not that familiar with the euro civic but i'm not even sure there is a LHD version. because of this it dosen't share much with north american hondas so i am assuming that honda bean counters would be against all the costs associated with just bringing the only oddball model into north america and turn a profit?

RE-Jo 12-16-2014 06:49 PM

I have a feeling the new Si will be around 220 hp... Just wait

Didn't they build the EP SiR in Swindon as well though? IIRC, that was the one generation of Si not built in North America, and was sold alongside the Canadian-built Civic. There is an off-chance that might repeat with the upcoming generation of NA-produced Civic.

kadafi 12-19-2014 09:15 PM

I still have an EP3, since Honda hasn't released another hatchback after this generation.

Back in 2002 Happy Honda needed to lower from the MSRP $25k to $21k to get people to consider EP3

Really looking forward to another European (designed & built in UK) coming over....and make sure to keep the same engine as EUDM, not the economy vtec again...

NEW VTEC TURBO ENGINES

nikos stoufis

Jan 15, 2015 — Dear supporters,

thank you for signing the petition and believing in the true power of dreams.

Yesterday, Honda North America announced that by the end of 2015 it will begin producing the new VTEC Turbo engines.

Without mentioning anything about the chassis that will carry the turbo powerplants, it placed these very exciting news deep inside an announcement about the Honda FCV 2018 Concept.

Quote taken from Honda to Launch Next Generation Advanced Powertrain Vehicles by 2018, Honda FCV Concept Makes North American Debut - Honda News

"New VTEC® Turbo Engines
Before the end of the year, Honda will begin to introduce our new 4-cylinder VTEC® Turbo engines – an extension of its Earth Dreams™ Technology powertrain lineup – that will deliver fun-to-drive performance while supporting fuel efficiency at a very high level. Production of the new VTEC® Turbo engines will begin later this year at Honda's Anna, Ohio, engine plant, the largest automobile engine plant in Honda's global production network1. Honda is investing $340 million at the Anna Engine Plant to produce the VTEC® Turbo 4-cylinder engines using domestic and globally sourced parts, including the addition of a third assembly line for production of 4-cylinder engines and additional manufacturing innovations."

So the same engine that is powering the Civic Type R in Europe will be also made here in North America. The question remains about the type of car that will be powered by the latest turbo technology.

Is it going to be just another Civic Si with a turbo engine or are they going to deliver a real type r ?

Don't get me wrong, the turbo engines coming is huge but in my humble opinion Honda does not want to upset the already declining sales for a short lived 9th generation Civic.

The 10th generation civic is just around the corner and we have received confirmation that a turbo powerplant will be available. My sources tell me that there are going to be various turbocharged options. The Civic will come in sedan, hatchback and coupe options. The Si model will be powered by a 1.5 L (210HP-220HP) turbo vtec engine and the type r will be powered by the 2.0L (280HP-300HP) with the sedan getting the DOHC DDI 1.8 L engine (155HP-160HP).

Thank you for believing in this petition and supporting a nobel cause.

I started a community for the Generation X (10th) Civic and you are most welcome to join it and discuss these very exciting news.

All the best and thank you again for supporting this petition. Please keep sharing it until Honda officially announces the lineup.

Yours truly ,

Whoa whoa whoa, HATCHBACK Civic coming to North America?

The Turbo and potential Type R is awesome, but I'll happily settle for a SI hatchback if the Type R doesn't come! (assuming they offer Hatchback for the SI).

The Euro CTR wont be coming to North America.

I love Honda to death and am excited about this caR but it will have stiff competition with the AWD Turbo Focus coming out soon. It will be interesting to see how they stack up to each other.

spoon.ek9 01-28-2015 08:30 PM

will consider if type R hatch makes it's way to Canada. srs.

Akinari 01-28-2015 08:52 PM

I'm staying optimistic, but I wouldn't be surprised if we got the dumbed down, softened version in the form of another "Si" or "SiR"

twitchyzero 01-28-2015 09:08 PM

lol saw this title in the related thread section

http://www.revscene.net/forums/67436...ine-210hp.html

if the CTR ever comes to the Canadian market it would probably be $45k and still only be half as fun as its 90's counterpart

denham 01-28-2015 09:17 PM

I would be all over a type-r civic! Even the current Si is a decent car, I'd have one of those for sure.

Timpo's post does make you think a bit. When that Ferrari 348 came out, I was in awe. Never knew it had ~300hp. Bloody Civic's are still going to beat my "fast" car. Damnit.

Traum 01-29-2015 11:31 AM

So... 300hp, turbo VTEC, 7k rpm redline.

I am the only one that is more excited by a mere 195hp, NA old skool VTEC that redlines at 8.4k rpm than the rumoured upcoming Civic Type R?

Zordon 01-29-2015 11:59 AM

Dammit, not another English made Honda. I had so many little issues with my 04 EP3.

No, you are not. I'm still living in the EK/DC/B16B/B18C world and loving every minute of it.

spoon.ek9 01-29-2015 03:44 PM

a lot of us still feel the same :hotbaby:

Zulu 01-29-2015 04:08 PM

I feel like Timpo hijacked this thread with the 1980s

ilovebacon 01-29-2015 06:44 PM

This car looooks so fucking nice! I'll buy it even if it doesn't have vtec

Traum 01-30-2015 12:02 AM

Compared the 300hp turbo VTEC Civic Type R to any of the pre-2003 cars you see from this link:

CAR and DRIVER - History of Honda Si Cars in America

I am definitely so much more excited about the oldies than this new and upcoming CTR...
