is there anyway to view 4k content on netflix WITHOUT using the built in netflix app?

ie. the 4k monitor is connected to a computer...

As far as I've read/can tell, no.

New Sony TV has the built in Netflix app and in order to run 4k I had to upgrade to the premium 11.99 a month Netflix. Once I updated the app on the TV instantly updated itself and displayed the 4k content. However when opened through Apple TV it was not even displayed.

Not sure about through a computer but everything that I've read basically has been saying its throigh the TV's built in app or nothing
