Oh and yes it is obvious they would all get 302 + T5 swapped

Zoomy 01-06-2015 09:53 PM

I've always been a big big fan of the W123 chassis, Recommend either the 240d 4spd, or 300d turbo diesel, but even then these things are real slow.

These were built at the pinnacle of Mercedes Benz over engineering, I just love the build quality, and the simple mechanical nature of them, hardly any electronics, can be mended with a hammer and a piece of string.

Next time you go to the auto wreckers, open and close a door, you'll see what I mean.

Euro bumpers

A good clean sedan goes for 2-4k from what I've seen, and wagons, even in meh condition are significantly more, dammit if it was cheaper I would have had one already...sigh.

Multi is definitely going to be one of those grumpy old farts.. "Back in my day, you drove cars, they didn't drive you. You could put a 302 & T5 in anything. A bowl of soup was a nickel." :lol

Definitely dig on the 70's MB era. Great styling, excellent build quality. Would love to have one.

SpartanAir 01-07-2015 09:45 AM

I'll always love old MB's. Still miss my old W124 wagon. If only they weren't so damn expensive to maintain.

donjalapeno 01-07-2015 09:46 AM

ugh...want one so bad.

My grandpa use to have 240d in baby blue...i remember i use to sit in it and play with the steering wheel and instruments for hours.

1973 Mercedes 280c 114 coupe
1974 MERCEDES 250 COUPE
1971 220D 4spd manual mercedes diesel

I'd still love to find a '71, 250CE with the 4spd and fuel injection.

Those are all slick as fuck.

I must put a Ford 5.0 in a Mercedes with a T5, unfortunately I have no idea how strong their differentials are in those old Benz. Anyone know? I popped the 4 cylinder diff in the E36 5.0 in under a month!

richardmozis 01-07-2015 12:01 PM

I think it's safe to say that the w124 can be included in this and I've always had a soft spot for it.

I was once punched in the face for defending the 190e

They can be stunning and I heard the manual cosworth(?) AMG version is just insane

Pick-n-Pull » We Sell Cars

$1500

Interior is musty, due to sitting in their yard, complete, except aftermarket steering wheel was stolen, starts but barely idles (could be fuel/carb issue), bubbling on the rr 1/4, rust hole on the lr 1/4, electrics and vacuum seems to work, replaced factory HU with a modern on (yuck). If one were to get this running, drop it a couple of inches and give it a detail, it'd make for a sweet cruiser.

Next time just tell them how Martin Brundle said that the 190e Cosworth was the finest rear-drive chassis he had ever driven...

Spoiler!

BoostedBB6 01-10-2015 01:18 PM

Ive had a 300D Turbo Deisal. Bought for $800 with a mint body. No rust just had vac issues (no door locks or engine shut off). Drove it for the summer (used for road trip). Sold for $2500.
300E BOUGHT FOR $800. My dad got rear ended in that thing when he was stopped by a guy doing 80....car still drove fine but was a write off.
190E 2.3 manual....that wa s a fun little car.

All of these cars were great. Only one that was questionable was the 190E. Anything less than a top model was junk. So many little issues with them but they are great looking cars.

richardmozis 01-10-2015 04:52 PM

Speaking of Mercedes, I'm interested to see when Mr. Regular finally reviews one.

multicartual 01-11-2015 01:35 PM

Fuck these cars ooze timeless style!!!

punkwax 01-11-2015 03:46 PM

This was my wife's first car:
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/stagi...nt_3-4_Web.jpg

Inlaws bought it new when my wife was born. They intended to keep it until she was old enough to drive, which they did. It was pretty mint until my wife got her hands on it. :lol

skylinergtr 01-14-2015 07:02 PM

Love old benzs, thas why I bought an R129. Always loved them. The car is so solid, quiet, and over engineered like crazy.

tofu1413 01-14-2015 07:17 PM

old mercedes. best mercedes.

cressydrift 01-14-2015 08:33 PM

Yes, yes they are.
