Michigan Highway I-94 - 100+ cars pile up

Anyone else saw this... crazy dangerous
After a few cars crashing, then at 0:47 secs a semi comes in at high speeds crashing in after...

Is it just me or does it seem like people were going rather fast??

But that's horrific - I hope everyone made it out

fliptuner 01-10-2015 06:21 PM

For the conditions, absolutely.

Limited visibility + ice = slow the fuck down.

iirc 150 vehicles, 1 died.

Sadly, the victim was a fellow Canadian... a truck driver from Quebec.

RIP.

Reminds me of this:

That low boy trailer at 50 seconds... I hope to hell that load on the trailer was tied down extremely tight that day because otherwise that driver was not getting out of there alive...

it was sudden lake effect conditions. happens fast and dumps a lot of snow. google it and you will see what happened on the east coast 1-2 months back where people were opening their front door to a wall of snow... no snowplow can keep up with that.

twitchyzero 01-11-2015 08:51 AM

if it happened locally, ICBC would put every car at fault because they were driving too fast for the condition to stop safely in time?

Good thing they went off like that and not in one big earth-shattering kaboom!

Has anything similiar to this happened in british columbia? I know it happens at least once a year between edmonton and calgary but I've never heard of something this bad around here, which is weird given our mountain highways and retarded drivers.

So terrifying to watch that. The scared toddler screaming for his dad made my heart sink. I can't believe how fast everyone was going. It seemed like they were travelling WAY faster than they should have for the conditions. But I'm thinking that people in that part of North America are used to this kind of weather so maybe it's not too out of character.
