Printing maps

Anyone know of a good software/tool to print residential maps?

Can't do it through google/bing/mapquest since map shows up too small and it's inaccurate.

Besides scanning maps from a map book i couldn't find anything else.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

why dont you just PrintScreen what you want and stitch it in paint or photoshop?

because that would take forever when you need like 100 maps

Specifically what kind of residential maps? How detailed?

Google Map Saver

Does the sampling and stitching for you, have used to many times for large format 300dpi+ projects. Depending on how large you're going you'll need a decent amount of ram (8GB+), and its not the most refined tool so if it hangs just let it do its thing.

I've used Google earth to stich together roughly 100 square KM's aroubd my cabin. Took screen caps then used photoshop to stich them together, worked out great.

I then used the company's plan printer to print it out on about a 3 foot by 4 foot page then had it laminated

Wow, I suddenly feel old. Back in my day, sonny, we bought these here things called "books". You could even buy a whole book of maps! Each of them-thar streets was labeled, all them parks too. And gosh darn it, don't you know, they even printed those things with a whole city in one book. One book! It was like having all of one of them-thar cellyphone aps the kids talk about in a device which didn't need power. Oh sure, you couldn't search for the nearest soda-pop stand, but if you knew the address you sure could find it!

Of course all of that could be meaningless if you have a reason for needing 100 of the same map...

Books? That seems like some kinda magic voodoo mumbo jumbo

I never had those map books... only had these stupid things that fold up into 30~ segments.

My dad had tons of them in the family car, but they were old and torn at many of the creases...
Once I opened them, it was almost impossible to figure out how to fold them back the "proper" way, so I just:
