Parked at the student lot behind SW9

I drive a white not stock RSX type s too. I wanted a black one but the pear white is soo sexy. What type of cars do you guys drive that park there? If you park a civic next to a miata, the miata will get jacked first. Get my point?

Op should be ok, the more flashier your car is , the more attention it gets. I always see a bright matte wrapped orange m3 in the parking lot.

I parked there for two years in 2005, with two easy to break in cars, a miata and then a silvia. No incidents, but then I never left anything in plain view.

You're probably fine, honestly the last thing I would want to do is take the bus after class (mainly cuz I took the bus all through high school), and was fortunate enough for my parents to give me seed money for a car. But if its a short ride and youre that concerned then take da bus

Nobody cares what cars you notice when you drive into a parking lot... thieves don't usually go for flashy BMW's and Mercedes', they go for the easy to steal shit. That's why Honda's, Acura's, older Toyota's, older Ford's, top the list of most stolen cars every single year.

Sure they might be more likely to smash the window on a BMW if they want to steal change, but the best way to counter that is just to leave nothing in your car. Most smash and grabs are because the thief sees something on the seat or console of a car, an iPod, a camera, etc.

I just put the ecu in my backpackwhen I went to bcit

TOS'd 01-20-2015 02:15 PM

OP should just take transit everywhere now, sell the car. There is always a chance of your car getting stolen or broken-in-to almost anywhere you go. So why risk it? staysafeop

vitaminG 01-20-2015 08:30 PM

a car can be stolen anywhere. what is the point of even owning a vehicle if youre taking the bus because you are too scared to drive it.

BCIT's lots used to be very sketchy
a RS member had his car stolen and torched
Vancouver Civics Club Forum
another RS member had an unsecured gate flying into his car was lucky it didn't seriously injury/kill him

I've parked there recently with no problem but I drive a stock car
OP I wouldn't be worried since you don't have an older Honda without immobilizer...the chance of someone breaking in is probably just as bad at a mall etc.

BrownBear 01-20-2015 10:59 PM

I'm thinking of putting a better security system in before I do start parking it there then.

shenmecar 01-21-2015 05:01 AM

I think it is safe, I parked at BCIT for 5 years and never had a problem in the lot on Willingdon behind SW9. But I guess it depends on the car you drive.

Better get some gps tracking too, if it's immobilized they might try to helicopter it out

TOS'd 01-21-2015 08:07 AM

Bullet proof your car. Maybe a kill switch too.

When it went through his grill it pulled his hood up as it was driven into further.

If I remember correctly the gate was open, and when the individual turned in a wind started to close the gate, and he drove into it.

lol that's fcking amazing that the gate got the hood open cleanly and that the grill wasn't ripped off

I care MEME405. :spamarama:

I know my car can jacked anywhere. I drive it everywhere. I'm just worried if my car is more likely to get jacked at school. I live close enough I can skytrain. I would rather take my car, but I'm not going to risk getting it jacked.

LYC 01-21-2015 04:09 PM

I had my 99 Civic sir stolen at BCIT in 2007 I think. Car was pretty modified but it had a club and full alarm and the fuckers still took it. This was in the gravel lot on Canada way. The thieves ending up stripping the car. Cops found it a few days later on fire in Surrey lol.

hotong 01-22-2015 07:34 AM

when i was in school at bcit someone tried to break into my car as well, but they were not successful in doing so. Was parked in the lot by the gym.

aj94 01-22-2015 03:00 PM

I've been parking there everyday since September and I've never had a problem other than the one day I parked in the gravel lot on the other side of the field. Car was parked there all day, till late night, and it got broken in to. They probably broke in and saw it was an auto (prelude) and just stole my watch from the glovebox instead :lawl:
Weird thing is, there was no sign of them getting in and I actually had no clue until I got in the car and saw stuff all over the place.

Other than that I haven't really heard of anyone's car being broken in to or stolen recently. I see tons of modified cars there everyday, I dont think you need to be worried unless you're parked in an isolated lot. Like a few people have already said, the old cars that are easier to break in to are usually the ones targeted

TOS'd 01-22-2015 03:11 PM

maybe you forgot to lock the door

RCubed 01-22-2015 03:12 PM

Parked there for 2 years no problem. The only thing you gotta watch for are those fucking door dingers. I always try to park at the end stalls to avoid them. You see people opening doors full force all the time there.. Fuckers.
