Will this help speed up charging my Android phone ? Hi there If I get a SCOSCHE USBC242M 12 Watt USB Car Charger with 2.1A ports, and connect my Android phone to the 2.1A port, will this speed up the charging time ? Please kindly advise. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...29&camp=211189 |
2.1a ports should be faster then 1a ports... shorter cables also provide faster charging like 3ft vs 6ft... if your phone supports quick charge, can take up to 5a ports also... overcharging your phone on a higher port is also bad for battery life, i.e. overnight... |
I see. thanks. |
It depends on your phone and the charging cable. The distance isn't the deciding factor for the cable - it's also the gauge (thickness) of the wire. Some older phones might only ever draw a max of 500mA, which is what a standard USB port on a computer will provide, so a 2.1A charger won't do anything. (usually standard USB cables have 28AWG - smaller is better) You're probably looking at 24AWG or thicker if you want to try a high amperage charger. I recently bought this set and it's working great for me (21AWG) http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00M...ilpage_o03_s00 |
