cleaning up chipped paint before vinyl wrapping

Hi guys,

I'm planning to wrap my car. the car has some paint chipped about the size of a fist. What's the best option to clean the chip before wrapping over it?

cover your fist in paint, apply fist to chip

u can touch it up and wet sand smooth, or wetsand all the edges down

peel/pick the edges as far as they go and then wetsand the edges down till you cant feel them. use a scrap piece of vinyl to check - matte black shows the outlines best, gloss colors as well.

this is how i did mine when i wrapped my car:
front bumper pre wrap with chips
front bumper done post wrap
zoom in to see the outlines

Is 2000 grit good enough for wetsand?

2000 is more than enough if you are planning to wrap over it.

You'll need to fill those chips with touch up paint and lightly before laying the vinyl. Vinyl wraps are very thin and have the ability to follow even the lightest contour so if there are flaws in the paint, they will show in the vinyl.
