Honda Civic Type-R will hit 270km/h

ok more details on Civic Type-R have been released, looks like Honda is on fire :fuckyea:

Turbocharged VTEC 300+HP
Topspeed: 270km/h
0-100km/h: "Quickest in its class" Honda has been caught testing against A45 AMG, which seems very ambitious

Will be the fastest FWD on Nurburgring (Yes, faster than Renault Megane Trophy R’s 7:54.36) aiming for 7:45 (Audi R8 V10 territory)

Brembo 350mm drilled rotor + 4 piston caliper
19 inch wheels, 235/35 Continental Tires

In duller news (but exciting for me because I can actually afford it sometime in the near future) the Acura ILX will come with the 200hp si engine and a 8 gear dual clutch transmission. It was previously offered with the 150hp Civic engine with an option for the si engine with a manual (which they took out last year). A whopping 2.5-second improvement in 0-60 time. They are also thinking of throwing in the 300hp Type-R engine and calling it Type-S but it may not be until the new model in 2-3 years.

Unlikely we will get this Type-R. If we ever get the Type-R and with the new TLX, improved ILX and new NSX... things are starting to get a little more interesting in Honda/Acura land. Oh and Honda F1 is back woot.

Wow, that is ugly as fuck!! I hope once they get it to production they clean it up a bit. Right now it looks tacky as shit.

Very disappointing since spec wise it sounds awesome! Seems like they are really trying and are aiming very high, which any car enthusiast should respect

Spoiler!

Honda no longer can make good looking cars.
Even Toyota has better looking vehicles.

Amaru 02-12-2015 02:25 AM

Impressive performance numbers, but it really does look like something that needs to be euthanized ASAP.

That really is "ugly as fuck".

Engine start button placement is horrible. I guess the designer had a fetish for failing xbox 360's RROD

I think it's coming to the USA
Honda Civic Type-R finally will arrives at US coasts

J89 02-12-2015 10:59 AM

damn regardless like most things we will get use to it. I'm sure it will look better without that matte bullshit.

Specs are godly though, I will always love Honda engineering this would be beast to drive!

Manic! 02-12-2015 11:17 AM

So how much are you willing to pay for a Civic?

Jgresch 02-12-2015 11:22 AM

Those matte black photos are like a year old. I don't think the fenders will look as bad. Hopefully it will look more like it does in 'The Other Side' Honda video.

I could handle the front end even though personally I don't like the continuously falling away look, but that rear end is horrendous. It looks like it might have a split tailgate light a Range Rover or something too.

Timpo 02-12-2015 11:32 AM

ok what the shit, it may not come to the US

New Civic Type R: Turbo, 168 mph, not coming to the U.S.

Excited for the car as I'm a Type R nut but I don't really dig the styling. I can deal with it because of the Type R pedigree but it's not off the wall awesome. I like the Focus RS better(did I just fucking say that?)

Timpo 02-12-2015 04:45 PM

The Type-R's styling is based on aerodynamic efficiency. That's why it can reach 270km/h.

Not just Civic Type-R, but same as GT-R, LFA, anything.

Lowered_Klass 02-12-2015 10:11 PM

Who gives a flying fuck if it can go 270 km/h? Honestly.

I'd rather they make a nicer looking car, instead of bragging about a top speed 95% of owners will never see.

I'm happy it has more respectable power numbers, as we all know Honda is capable of doing so.

Just get me up to highway speeds in a big fucking hurry, and I'm happy.

SpeedStars 02-12-2015 11:10 PM

Is this really what the former Mugen creators(son of Honda) can come up with... The fender flares are the biggest turn off coupled with the weird prius/insight looking rear end makes it a car of disproportionate proportions that can't even look beautiful at any angle...

19inch wheels is just too big. 18inch max to be a hot hatch.

for me, fd2 is still my favourite.

I have a feeling this car will outperform the Ford Focus RS!
