New Gaming Computer Build Hey all, wondering if some of you can come up with a build for me from parts I can pick up at NCIX. I'm looking to spend about $1,000. Needs: CPU MOBO SSD RAM Case PSU GPU no need for another HD as I already have one I can swap over. Thanks! |

Intel i5-4460 Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H 120/240 Sandisk Ultra II SSD ADATA XPG 8GB DDR3 AMD R9 290X Fractal Design Core 1500 EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze PSU |
Thanks Razor. Why the radeon rather than a Nvidia? Can you please explain to me the difference? i've always used Nvidia in the past. thanks, |
because best bang for buck in your budget |
290X performs similar to a GTX 970 while costing less. All the components aside from the video card is going to cost around 650 after taxes, so you only 350 left for your budget. |
Is this a good deal? Windows 8 i7 4790k @ 4.00GHz not overclocked! 16Gb Ram 64 bit operating system 124gb SSD 1 TB Memory NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 Azus mother board NZXT Phantom case $1000 |
for the budget you can do better than 760 |
this is a sale from Craigslist that i found. Do you think its worth it if i am able to picked it up for $900? I've tried building it from parts from NCIX but i can't seem to get it to this price. |
depending on what kind of gaming you do... my current gaming pc is actually running pretty much the same hardware... im at 8gbs of ram, 2 tb hdd, an asus gpu not nvidia, and a hero vii. i can run csgo at top settings at like 300fps, im pretty sure it's higher, csgo just has a cap |
thanks for your responses guys. I'm just wondering if $900 is ok for what i'm getting in return. Windows 8 i7 4790k @ 4.00GHz not overclocked! 16Gb Ram 64 bit operating system 124gb SSD 1 TB Memory NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 Azus mother board z-97 NZXT Phantom case |
That's an ok deal, it's only worth around $1150-1200 in parts off the top of my head, But you'll probably end up upgrading that video card fairly soon. There's not much benefit from going to an i5 to an i7 (diminishing returns), so it's better to budget more towards a video card, hence the recommendation of an i5 + 290X (which destroys the 760). |
