Recommendations for an d16y8 engine swap shop
 

Hi everyone,
i'm looking for a shop that can provide an d17y8 engine and swap services for my 97 acura el, automatic.

its an A to B car, but now running really tired with 300KM. i'm hoping that a shop already has a low KM engine laying around and would do a quality service for me.

thoughts? Garage5 has already been recommended.

When you say running 'tired', what do you mean exactly?

You might be able to get away with doing a good tune up to the car, assuming it's not burning a ton of oil/blowing smoke.

Unfortunately, finding a motor and getting a shop to install it, all for a grand or less will be quite tough.

You might be better off letting a shop take a look at it and see if a tune up will do the trick, or what they suggest before dropping a 'new' motor into it.

hey LK, mpg is bad. i only get about 370 to a tank; i have a light foot and nothing in the trunk. i've done a lot to tune it up already from plugs, distributor, timing belt, pump, oil change etc. coolants leaking into the cylinders a bit but not burning out the tail pipe yet.

i know of people with the same engine get 550 easily so an engine swap would be the best way instead of breaking down the engine for headgasket and or cylinder/ring work.

You might not end up any better with just an engine swap.
My friend recently did an engine swap for similar reason as yours. His "new" engine ended up being worse off than his old one.

I would suggest having your current engine refreshed by a trusted machine shop. At the very least, you know the engine will be good, and if anything goes wrong, you have a warranty.
