| Wifi issues
Recently I've been dealing with a frustrating issue. When browsing the web, things will be fast enough (around 14 mbps) and then suddenly, for whatever reason, my internet will slow down to a crawl (0.75 to 0.90 mbps). The only solution is to reboot the computer and everything is back to normal. It's a 2014 Macbook Air and my router is an older linksys wrt54g.
I have been considering upgrading the router, but I'm not totally convinced the router is the issue since rebooting the computer (not the router) solves the problem. I can't identify what exactly is causing the slowdown within my computer. Any ideas? Having to reboot a few times per day is really annoying.

test the connection via direct plug in. That's what I tell customer when they call in for support. 90% of the time is the wireless issue.

If you have an android phone, try running an app called WiFi Analyser to check what's going on at the moment your internet slows. Chances are that it's interference from another WiFi router on the same channel. Try configuring your router for a channel other than 1, 6 or 11. Those are the defaults and the channels get crowded.
The app will show you all active AP's it can see and the channels they're broadcasting on. Its a great app.

Nothing installed recently that I can think of. The signal is strong via direct plug in. So i'm confident it's an issue with the wifi connection.
Thanks I will try the suggestion from nabs in the other thread and remove all the other networks from my list of connections. (although nabs mentioned that issue is for Macs with Yosemite and I have yet to upgrade my OS).
I agree, it could be also interference from a neighbouring router. I don't have an android phone, however I will look into changing my router's channel and seeing if that helps.
