VoIP services and hardware Any RSers out there using VoIP for their home phone service? For the past 5 years I've been using MagicJack. I have no complaints with it, but every year I see an increase in price, or increase in surcharges for stuff that was once included. I'd like to switch out from them, and keep my current number. My parents have been using a MagicJack, as well. They have had 2 units crap out over the past year. So, I got a refund on their broken one, and ordered a Omihai 200 from Newegg since it supports Google Voice. GV is currently US only, but Canadians can sign up with a VPN and a US phone number. GV allows them to call North America for free, but they are stuck with a US phone number. Folks on RFD recommend Freephoneline.ca. For $60 +tax, they'll give you SIP access, so you can use VoIP hardware. Another $25 will get your number ported to them. Then, no payments after that. The reviews seem pretty good. Does anyone have any experience with them or other services? |
Been using FPL for 4 years, excellent service, clear and crisp voice quality. Only had 1 downtime. Totally worth it. |
