I went to a high school with a large brown population.

"Hey man, Bundy Johal got shot!"

"...who the fuck is that?"

For those who are old enough - McNair was also home to the machete attack in 93! Respect!

Ah the memories. Yonder Thicket was my fondest though. I missed the machete attack by one year.

LOL at local dead gangsta movie thread becomes high school reunion thread.

Haha this reminds me of a classmate who talked about Bindy like most other EI guys back then, last I recall him being on the front page of the local newspaper about table tossing at the temple.

just to let you guys know you can torrent this movie now off kickasstorrents.

I saw it in the theatres and quite enjoyed it. not the greatest movie but for something thats set and made in Van Its pretty awesome.

Sad when they make movies about people who destroy other people's lives.

No heroes here. Let's celebrate people who build, not destroy.

I remember hearing about the machete attack in 93' when I was still in high school. In Surrey we were used to indo canadians, dirtbag white folks, and the odd kid from Taiwan or HK. But shit was going down something fierce in Richmond.

I remember when a buddy of mine was at a pool hall in South Burnaby. A group of asian bangers was starting trouble. He stepped to them, and one of the guys pulled a fucking shotgun out from under his long jacket, held it to my buddie's chest, and basically made him beg for his life. That was a lot different than what we were used to in Surrey. We had whores. You guys had 5' tall chinese teenagers with shotguns.

SumAznGuy 01-06-2016 10:37 AM

Woohoo, it's on XBMC too.
Gonna stream this movie during lunch.

That sounds like the old StarLite pool hall off Canada Way, now replaced by low rise apartments. That place was such a gong show, would be massive brawls every day involving weapons of all kinds lol.

^ and a growop also in that poolhall

Harvey Specter 01-06-2016 12:26 PM

Grew up in the heart of south Van during the Bindy Johal days, knew a lot of the guys who got gunned down or took off. I still remember Bindy's buddy, believe his name was Khun Khun, who use to come around in his brand new cherry red W124 e55.

Could've also been Jubilee, just behind Bonsor.

JSALES 01-06-2016 02:11 PM

All the Surrey jacks are going to watch this lol

FN-2199 01-06-2016 02:22 PM

A friend of mine is one of the main actors for this.

According to him, stay away from this movie. It's bad :lol

Verdasco 01-06-2016 03:00 PM

23 years old right now, heard about him in high school about his legacy

Harvey Specter 01-06-2016 03:58 PM

Who all here remembers Aces pool hall on Vic near 54th?

fliptuner 01-06-2016 04:11 PM

Used to play snooker there sometimes. Usually, it was Jubilee, Starlight, Guys and Dolls and Alpha though.

No one cuts into the Queens drug selling business... all dial a dope numbers\pagers are and were monitored by the intelligence services... these gangs really serve the system at the end of the day.
If one gang independently imports its own coke or heroin, but also starts making big money, you can bet the system will eventually take them down.

I know we live in the free world and our forefathers fought for us to have the freedoms we enjoy today...but REALLY...I wish we would do background checks and psychological evaluations before giving people access to the internet.

Boostslut 01-06-2016 08:16 PM

Jubilee and Starlite. Wow. Old person checking in!

Vansterdam 01-06-2016 08:25 PM

FYI this movie is not based on Bindy. it has some similar-inspired events about him and his buddy guys

I thought the ending was pretty whack and rushed

Surprisingly I liked the movie. The music and ending could have been better but it shows what was happening at that time and is still happening today. 8/10
