The Pursuit: Lexus RC F x Ken Gushi

Have you all had a chance to view the newest Open Road Lexus/ Drive Marketing Group video featuring Ken Gushi? It was unveiled at the RCF launch event last week and has been plastered all over their Instagram and Facebook accounts

It was kind of boring.

StylinRed 05-01-2015 07:36 PM

meh, i was really interested in the rcf before it was released, and i still think the RC in Inferno red is gorgeous

but all the bad reviews and the high price is just a turn off, would rather get an F-Type

anti-vip 05-01-2015 08:11 PM

Feels like it's/they're trying too hard

I feel like Lexus dropped the ball on properly explaining the intended usage of the car. The F-Type is exciting as shit -- a ridiculously sporty grand-tourer with race inspired suspension and way too much power. The F-Type is almost impossible to drive without spinning the tires or losing the rear end. The RC-F is more like a reliable, roomy and slightly more convenient non-AMG Mercedes SL. It's moreso a well priced, fantastic high style daily than a race-bred sports car. Also the RC-F probably has the most interesting interior I've seen in a lonnnng time. More Bentley than Ferrari.

Although given the options I'd still pick a 911. :toot:

The RCF sucks....and it makes me really sad to say it because I expected it to be amazing. If I were to look for a similar vehicle that does it right I would pick up an M4 and be done with it.

people with relatively nice cars always want to take their pictures/videos with aircrafts.

whereas people with aircrafts almost never try to take pictures with cars.
I found this pathetic.

sorry guys, no matter how hard you try, cars won't be able to fly like airplanes. maybe with an exception of aircraft-transforming cars but that's it.

The aerial shots were done by local guys, Ken and Jonathan from 143car.com. Pretty cool that they got to work with this shoot.

that was a really poorly done ad i must say... there's literally no point to it and made me feel like if I were to buy that car, I'd act like a douche, hence making me not want that car. Really didn't capture Lexus spirit at all...

the RCF is like a fat younger brother of the LFA

saucywoman 05-04-2015 07:28 AM

Thankyou for your input, there are some interesting points made. :)

For some reason I read "The Pursuit: Lexus RC F x Ken Sushi" when looking at the title

saucywoman 05-05-2015 07:43 AM

^^lol don't you just hate it when our reading comprehension fails

I think it was a cool idea and really beautifully shot, but the editing made it a bit flat.

It looks to me like they were inspired by the BMW films 'The Hire', even more specifically 'The Chase' with Clive Owen. What I think made that film so iconic was the drift shots had a reason, while in this video it looked like he was just drifting to drift (penduluming down a straight).

I can also see the constraints of the shooting venue effecting the ability to tell a concise narrative in the video. They had to use the given best as possible, which I'm guessing was relatively small.

My opinion is by reducing the redundant clips (the RCF is riding the LFA's bumper.... now hes drifting... then right behind again), it could have been more impactful and engaging.

i've said it again and again, RCF is plain ugly. Come on Lexus...builts a beautiful IS, and pukes on the coupe RC. Fail.

Stuff the 5.0 V8 into the IS, instantly a winner. No need for these publicity stunts.

Well...i see why they do this, because the RC doesn't sell.

StylinRed 05-06-2015 11:55 PM

the RC is gorgeous and it's track times of the RCF are virtually on par with the M4 (given all it's extra weight that's impressive) the RC/RCF is just overpriced imo

knock down the "lexus" surcharge of $5k(RC)-$10k(RCF) and BAM they have a winner

after all, it's merely a 2 door IS but it(rc350awd) starts at $8k more than the is350awd

or offer some fantastic lease/finance rates like the euro brands

i rather watch jason explain and dissect a rc and rcf. much more interesting.
