The North Van one is a change in scenery for sure, but if you're Asian, Don't have children with you, and/or cheap, you're better off going to the Richmond ones. As someone mentioned, NVan one is smaller, sell expensive artisan things, etc. Also be prepared to pay a lot more for food. Higher quality, definitely, but at a premium. |
All those yuppies that sell their shit at the north van one are all the same that sell at the dundarave market and the lonsdale quey etc. I don't get people who overvalue their shit to a point where no one is buying anything. Like some little paintings I'd love to have for $150-$300 but when you're selling a 24X48 print for $900? Fuck off |

^you mean they actually close their mouths when they chew and not display their food for others to see? hork or shoot snot out of nose onto ground? |
Please post your experience if you end up going to the home depot one tonight! |
I just want some ice cream crepes |
Are there enough stalls to warrant going tomorrow night? |
just came back from the one behind home depot, and it seems like its smaller by 50%. Lots of the areas are vacant without tents setup, so i don't know if there's going to be more stalls set up in the future. |
Went to the Home Depot one tonight. 40% of stalls open. Same crap as other years. Probably wont go back there this year. River Rock one is generally better anyways. |
ill go to the home depot one if i dont wanna line up for food haha, some venodrs are open but nothing eye catching... theres also a krispy kremes stall now yumm |
Walk with stinky tofu to get through the crowd. |
The Home Depot one is having issues filling up the tents. The owner is giving discounts to anyone who wants to set one up. |
I went to the Home Depot one. There was nothing. Walked 10min and walked right back out. Food area was busy. Biggest lineup as usually are the over priced $3 roasted corn and hurricane potatoes for $4.50 for one or $8 for 2. Ridiculous how much ppl are willing to pay for half a potatoe. Haha.. But good for vendor. |
No kidding. Hurricane potatoes probably rake in the fattest margin. |
hurricane potato dude is prob living in a mansion driving a Lambo from all the sales LOL. whoever thought of that idea first is a genius |

Maybe moody went later but I was there from 7-9:30 sooo... yup. -Takoyaki & Deep Fried Squid had the longest lineups, with time in line being about 20 minutes, and waits for food even longer. -Halal BBQ was the main skewer place, there was another small Japanese BBQ stall, but other then that, no skewers. Wait was about 45 minutes for 3 chicken skewers @ Halal. -Candy Sugar (IIRC) had 2/3/4 layer cotton candy made into the shape of a flower. Definitely cool, but again, 30 minute wait. Hurricane Potato had a 5 minute wait if that, same with Roasted Corn.. Once RiverRock is open, me and gf would probably go back for the food we like, as I'm sure the lines will all die down like last year. Definitely hurting for novelty stands though, you can tell this nightmarkets going to be gone if RiverRock continues to stay open. |
Are "hurricane potatoes" the Chinese knock-off name for them? It seems like a major lost opportunity by not calling it a Potatornado, or something cool. |
No LG's at Homdepot one on Saturday :( FISHBALLS!! 5 fishballs for $3.00 :( Also checked out the Amazebuns stall. Pretty good. Had the ice cream + condensed milk. There was a sign that said "featured on Vancity buzz". has anyone else tried / heard of them? seems new this year. |
Which 1 had the stinky tofu? |
The North Van one is mainly food trucks and a craft market. Not bad. Will go again this year. |
