Anyone have good suggestions for a first overnight hike in/hike out place? Brother and I are thinking of doing a hike in and overnight camp. Both physically fit and outdoorsy. Does not have to be all about elevation. Would be nice to go to a hike in lake area. Only real concern is not being in the wildfire area

What's a super easy hike for beginners around the Vancouver area? Like a hour? 2 hours max.

320: how about elfin lakes

willy: quarry rock, easiest one with a view.

soo sad i was supposed to hike joffre lake last saturday. drove all the way there to find out that it was raining heavily. weather forecast said itd be sunny :(

it was sunny everywhere else.. pemberton, whistler.....
so instead we hiked narin falls, brandy wine falls, and shannon falls. walked aorund whistler those arent even real hikes lol ugh. tried to go joffre lake two weeks ago too but they blocked off the sea to sky highway for some bike marathon.

god really doesnt want me to hike joffre lake lol

any other lakes that are clear blue? other than joffre & geribaldi

LookitsMarkA 09-28-2015 08:27 PM

7 hours total vice versa

did crown mountain 2 weeks ago, was fairly challenging especially since you have to do the grind to get to the start. also if you're not used to boulder fields and exposed scrambling it may be a bit of a challenge.

on saturday i did the howe sound crest trail which is a 29km trail from cypress to porteau cove. i got a ride at 7am and finished at 430pm and hitchiked home. 9.5hrs at a reasonably fast pace, ran all the flat portions. did it solo but met some trail runners in between who i kept up with for about half the hike then they were gone! bit too fast for me and didnt wait for me either. i dont recommend this as a day hike unless you're a trail runner because even if you're doing it at a decent speed it will take 12 hours. its better as an overnight trip for most.
