Ticketed for loud exhaust?

Vancouver Police could issue $109 ticket for loud vehicles - BC | Globalnews.ca

Just another thing to ticket for lol

BoostedBB6 07-10-2015 10:45 PM

Nothing new there. This has been around for years. I remember when they started this and were ticketing bone stock STi's :P

Have not heard of anyone getting a ticket for this in a long time tho.

just don't drive around like a douche rev'ing the piss out of your car everywhere and you'll be fine.

red_2 07-10-2015 11:06 PM

I think its mostly targeted at motorcycles

The Harleys with the loud ass exhausts are really annoying though especially if there just ripping it down robson :rukidding:

Its all cool if you're on the highway but not on heavily condensed streets please

yeah that loud pipe is awfully deafening on them....there the ones targeted for noise complaints then anything.

BoostedBB6 07-11-2015 07:00 AM

Still hear no Harley riders getting ticketed for this.
I know a ton of people in the motorcycle world and no ones getting pulled for there exhausts.
It used to be very common with cars back in the day and that was when it was mostly just big fart cans, now I see all these straight piped POS's rolling around without getting hassled.

flagella 07-11-2015 07:36 AM

Harleys are the worst. Loud and obnoxious.

Yes, it is more for bikes. I had 2 friends pulled over and ticketed for their bikes being too loud and they were just sport bikes.

This does seem a little unfair though, sports cars can get away with it because they can claim its a sports car and ofcourse it will be loud.

Meanwhile, everyone else is free game for the most part.

I think the Fiat 500 Abarth comes standard with straight pipes :fuckyea:

Did they always give out points? I have no problems with the fine, but giving out 3 points seems kind of excessive.

Timpo 07-11-2015 10:55 AM

91 decibel for motorcycles?

lol good luck with that, many high performance motorcycle's stock exhausts are easily over 100 decibels.

Timpo 07-11-2015 10:58 AM

Ducati Panigale - 108 decibels STOCK

Looks like 1299 is more like 105 decibel range, depending on how you measure it

Berzerker 07-11-2015 11:24 AM

I got pulled over and had an officer us a DB meter on me. Had me rev to a certain RPM while he took a reading. Luckily the Turbo quieted down the tone at lower RPM's.

I asked the officer if we could check his bike after and he politely declined.

Berz out.

Mike.L 07-11-2015 11:53 AM

I want to get an electronic cutout now just to screw with the cops.

RevYouUp 07-11-2015 12:10 PM

Stupid law, might as well ticket large trucks and buses too or people mowing the lawn on weekends right when they get out of bed.

Odd you mention that, there are some by-laws for noise that will net you a ticket for doing just that.

I agree, for the most part these types of laws are stupid, but for a select few, they NEED to be stopped. I don't mind loud pipes on bikes because it makes other road users more aware of them. They are smaller, move faster and are often missed by cagers. In this instance, I think a loud exhaust for a bike is a good thing. When its 2am and you are blasting around a residential area for fun.....go eat a bag of dicks.
As for the straight piped cars......please stop!! It sounds hideous 99.9% of the time and there is no time where it is a reasonable amount of noise.

I don't deal with much noise pollution where I live so its not something that I think about, but there are some who need to be told to, legally, STFU.

My buddy just got a ticket for this last week in Surrey. He drives a clean Em1 civic. I still think there are way louder stock domestic cars that get away with it.

bigzz786786 07-13-2015 01:13 PM

I would be glad if they could enforce this law after a certain time of day! I live on 3 road and the ass hats ripping out of blenze coffee at 2 am is beyond annoying!

I constantly see people make this point but most of the time you don't hear the loud pipes until the bike is in front of you, where it becomes a moot point. And if we end up deaf we won't be able to hear anyones bike.

Manic! 07-13-2015 02:16 PM

Got a ticket with my Civic years ago. I'm o.k. with the law. A bunch of bikers where complaining because Nanaimo RCMP actually enforces the law.
