Urbanfibre ISP

Has anyone heard of or used Urbanfibre? I got a pamphlet in the mail today stating that they are now hooked up to my building (fibre optic).

$49 a month gets me 1000megabit/second upload and download, 1 terabyte a month, month by month term -no contract. Price goes up to $69/month after the first year.

I'm pretty tired of Shaw and their under performing, especially at $130 for cable and internet. Thinking of just switching over to internet only.

Any opinions on this company?

never heard of it but you should ask them if they have installation fee, cancellation fee, equipment rentals etc etc and if you break their contract is there is fee?

$99 setup fee is waived as part of this promo, not sure about cancellation or equipment, but there is no contract

I suspect it is condos only like novus.

77civic1200 07-11-2015 01:49 PM

ya I'm in a condo

knight604 07-11-2015 01:58 PM

I think they used to be called unet , upon research they've been around for 11 years or so and powers sfu's internet.

Mr.Money 07-11-2015 02:28 PM

do you really need to download at 20 mb/sec? cause that's how novus is

knight604 07-11-2015 02:57 PM

I mean if it's cheaper than novus but higher speeds, why not?

But it all comes down to reliability for me.

It's like when wind came out , sure it's cheap but what's the point if you don't get service?

If its anything like Novus, I would highly recommend going with these guys. They're cheaper and much more faster so you have nothing to lose.

It would be awesome.

Anyone knows their availability?

3.2 vtec 07-14-2015 11:12 AM

you have to call or email them. I called and talked to a friendly sales rep, He says they are in the middle of revamping their site and will add map tool and channel list to their tv lineup. Not many condo are available yet.

their advertised speed is nice for the price.

Ulic Qel-Droma 07-14-2015 01:21 PM

Ulic Qel-Droma 07-14-2015 04:12 PM

Hi Ulic,

Thank you for your interest in our symmetrical Gigabit internet service. Unfortunately we currently don't have coverage in your area. We will keep your query on file & contact you once service is available at your location.

We are currently only targeting MDU's (multi dwelling units, 50+ suites) in the Metro Vancouver area for Residential services. If you live in a MDU please let us know the contact information for the management company or strata. If we have fibre in the area we will contact them about gaining access to the building to be able to provide service.

Regards,
