Want to use car head unit in the garage

Just wondering what to use as a power source.

Can I just use a 110V to 12V cig adapter or does it need to be something more elaborate?

ive used an old pc power supply before but it would cut out when i turned the volume way up and it started drawing too much power.

We have some power converters for $30 that will do the trick

Thanks Keith. Unfortunately, it's for my brother's place in Kamloops.
Any links to similar units?

Maybe it was pulling too much amperage?

Yeah this was a really old power supply, probably like 10 years old. I'm sure a better power supply could provide more amperage. I just used whatever I had laying around

Did you wire it to run off a single rail, or did you bridge them together to supply more current?

I have 12 v power supplies at home I made when in school. You can use one to see if it works. I used to use it to use a HU in my room
