| Show off your headlight retrofits!!
Hey guys, my name is George. I am the head installer and retrofit specialist at RPM Electronics in Burnaby. I am also active on the HIDPlanet forum (under the same username), a great forum to check out if you are interested in HID kits and retrofits.
I'm trying to bring the retrofitting trend to Vancouver, I've seen a couple retrofits on the road that weren't done by me so I'm curious to see just how many people are rocking modified headlights!
If you don't know what headlight retrofitting is about, this thread should be quite informative!
I'm not talking about those pre-made headlights you buy on eBay or from China, I'm talking about hand-retrofitted goodness!
I'll also be sharing my major retrofits on here! Some of them may even belong to RS members!
Here is my most recent work, a LEDConcepts 'ColorMorph' SMD Halo Ring kit + headlight blackout on a 2014 Dodge RAM 1500:

Not exactly retrofitted by me, but it is an HID retrofit nonetheless.
Super old pic of my car with the custom low-rise projectors.
I really need to change out the bulbs to 4300K, right now it's at 6000K and a bit too blue for my liking. That, and get ballasts that actually match, lol.

I'll play too!
Behold, my budget ebay kit that turned out amazing.
Before:
After:
My kit came with angel eyes (still on the fence about how they look), so I decided to use them as DRLs.

I've been debating throwing projectors into my Saab. Lots of retrofits online but the common issue people have come across is that the OEM fluting tends to throw a bit of stray light upwards (high enough that it doesn't affect those in oncoming traffic). One solution is to buy clear lenses but the quality is apparently subpar and apparently yellows quite easily.
My question is this: How do you go about bypassing this issue? Just grind it off and reseal the glass?
Edit: This is what I'm referring to, although this particular image is talking about high beams |

Can you do custom angel eyes instead of a projector retrofit? Similar to what OSS does for bimmers. |

My question is this: How do you go about bypassing this issue? Just grind it off and reseal the glass? | I've thought about this as well when I had crazy ideas of putting my old minid2s 1.0 in a tercel for fun. i was thinking i would just grind a flat circle on the fluted area on the glass while leaving the rest of the fluted area untouched since the projector would only need that circle in the middle.
even if you couldn't re-polish the glass on the inside back to 100% clear, it would almost be good as it would blur out the cut-off just like some oem projectors...e46 stock projectors come to mind.

My question is this: How do you go about bypassing this issue? Just grind it off and reseal the glass? | I've seen people either sand down the oem lens so it's clear, or vacuum form a new clear lens using the oem lens as a template. Quote:
