Audi Specialist/Shops

Hi RS,

Do you guys know any good reputatable Audi specialist to change breaks/service on a Q7?

The dealer wants to charge me almost $3000 for new breaks :rukidding:

I know they are big breaks but just seeing if there are any cheaper alternatives out there.

Thanks!

ps. to anyone considering a Q7, breaks need to get changed ~35000km!! Apparently very common with Q7's from what I've read.

By brakes, you mean the pads, rotors, & calipers?
Cuz you can get OEM pads for around $300 (front n rear) and around $4-1k for the rotors and $300ish for the calipers... DIY?

PG Performance in Surrey does a lot of work on VW/Audis.

Having to do pads at 35K on an SUV like the Q7 isn't that out of the ordinary.

I never went to TSS for service (I don't think) when I had my GTI so not sure of their VW/audi experience, but they are from my experiences the most trustworthy and straight up shop I have ever dealt with in 14 years of driving/modding cars.
Blitzkrieg have always been good to me as well, and are very VAG focused, but I feel like things can get pricier quicker there. Still I'd recommend them as well.

OP, I think you are referring to the rotors AND the brake pads (all 4).

The rotors might be warped, so it requires changing.

When you are braking, does your steering wheel shake EVEN a little or a tiny bit?

If so, your rotors MAY be warped.

If that is the case, you will have to change it sooner rather than later.

Most of the cost your dealer gave you is for the parts themselves.

I also had the same problem on my ex-Audi, and it was, if I remember correctly, around $5,000 for everything.

Now, I had to use the same type of rotors because they were "wave rotors".

There are no alternatives unless I changed the actual type to regular round rotors.

For your Q7, you COULD save money if you changed the TYPE of rotors or BRAND of rotors.

If you are going to use the same OEM type of rotors and brake pads, you will save very little on the parts themselves if you go to an Audi specialist.

They will quote you the same or similar prices as the dealers themselves (if you are comparing the same OEM rotors and pads).

You can save some on labour.

I inquired around when I saw the $5k bill, and the only thing that could have been saved were the labour, or about $100 to $200.

So, to save money, you might have to go for other brands or types of rotors and brake pads at an Audi specialist (try RPI Equipped).

Good luck.
