Same reason they did heavily discounted tickets either last year or year before due to rain most of the fair. |
Went last night, had the premium foot long pizza dog pretty killer lol Also did the craft beer thing, was nice to have no line ups but the vast majority of the breweries had a wit beer as their lineup, which is really bleh to any actual beer drinker lol Going back tonight for dueling pianos |
free admission tomorrow and sun |

Went tonight and it was pretty dead. However, it made for easy line ups! I really enjoyed the marching band that tour the pne site and does a small show infront of the food plaza (right by the animal farm). Up to date hits and everything! |
Went last night at 10pm for $5 and like previous poster, agree was mostly dead. All exhibits closed, concerts over, some light rain. Got the last skewer of red velvet mini donuts (crazy good!), had some brisket and ribs. Went to the beer garden (the only busy area) and people were going NUTS for Dueling Pianos. It's actually a pretty good show: nonstop upbeat cover songs from the 70's and up. Downside was so many young brown dudes acting all tough, tried to start a fight in the bathroom. HELP: anybody know where to get lightsaber like toys at PNE? Saw a guy with a really cool near-Star Wars looking lightsaber toy, and the light up effect looked cool and expensive. (Handle did not light up, saw many kids with cheaper looking swords that lit up all through the handle) |

Gotta love PNE's luck nearly every year. Good to amazing weather for literally the ENTIRE summer, and a couple days after opening day we get a storm with torrential rains/winds that are probably going to last for most of the week... |

The light saber guy always seems to be inside the coliseum when Peter Pan is about to start Went last night again, finally had some BBQ that impressed me, the stand closest to the poutine place had killllerrr pulled pork, part of my well balanced dinner: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...ps2z8odxs4.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...pspftsb1yc.jpg |
what's the damage for such a feast?? i've never had the urge to go until now lol |
1/3 rack of ribs and the pulled pork sandwhich are $10 each Poutine running about $9 I yhink |
For that first stand (closest to the poutine place on the left) I believe there is a coupon in the fair coupon book ($2 normally, but free coupon for the book in the Province newspaper, redeem at Guest services). Coupon gives you like 1lb pulled pork if you order their large family meal thing, might have been like $40, but I cant remember what it came with sorry. Good if you want to split with a bunch of people or take some food home with you. |
1/3 rack of ribs + pulled pork or beef brisket for $17. 1/2 rack + PP or BB for $20. Full rack + PP or BB for $26. Also has apple cider slaw for $5 and another side. Ribfest is legit my go-to meal to fill up when I'm hungry at the PNE. Always fucking delicious. :awwyeah: |
^ I think the family feast has more than just ribs + pp/bb, other places have large meals around $40ish, so I expect Gator BBQ to have something similar. I looked at the coupon again. Details: Gator BBQ Order a Florida Family Feast and get an extra pound of Pulled Pork |
I thought MG1 would be on the ball here and give us an update for tomorrow, but for tomorrow there's a free gate entry from 11am until 2pm The Fair at the PNE - Pacific National Exhibition - 100 Years of Fun :awwyeah: |
Once a year is all I can take of the place. The fair has less and less to offer. Back in the day where there were at least three more buildings, including the one that housed the BC Sports Hall of Fame and the huge ass 3D relief map of BC. I miss the PNE parade that started downtown and winded its way down Hastings Street to Clarke Drive. It kicked off the PNE every year and got everyone buzzing. People were lined up five deep on both sides of the streets and solid from beginning to end. It was a huge event that drew great marching bands and floats from across North America. Televised, too. No more motocross, demolition derby, lumberman' show, etc. Now the highlight is Dueling Banjo's (piano). Nuff said. |
