Unboxing: Xiaomi Redmi Note2 16gb

I just bought it at $203cdn, very hard to get, (Listed price: $165cdn / $126usd) will be my secondary phone. Awesome low-end phone! I had Redmi 1 and like the MIUI a lot.

I feel bad for Samsung.. not paying for patent fees to Microsoft and co do allow you to sell phones so much cheaper! The fight is not even fair anymore.

and for those in Canada who are wondering, LTE is only available on Rogers (ie Rogers, Fido etc) ie Band 7 LTE. No LTE on Bellus. Seems to be a common thing for Chinese phones.

SkinnyPupp 08-23-2015 07:19 AM

I wouldn't pay a cent over list price for this, It'll probably be selling for $800 HKD new in a few weeks and $500 used

I've had customers bring in some really nice Meizu/Xiaomi phones, but none of them supports AWS-4 for Wind

RIP

well i have had a bit of a bad experience with xiaomi stock os & the internal 16g is just horrible (i could only get the 16g with my phone company) for my mi3

after i switch to meizu, i realize how much i miss xiaomi as meizu was worst lol & would like to switch a new phone soon

how is this one compare to the xiaomi note and mi4

Skinny: you have your point, in fact they are selling 2nd batch this morning for ¥799 on their official webpage. I bought it with extra hkd200, because the shop installed TWRP and clean stock MIUI ROM with Google play for me.

Ae101: I had redmi 1 few years ago, RMA twice in the first month, but the OS is what I like. It is not Google stock ROM or CyanogenMod, but pretty okay OS when you have other Xiaomi products. It is mainly my app tester and gaming phone, it runs everything I need.

i dont like the MIUI OS... i hate not having an App drawer... icons all over the place.. lol

RESN 08-24-2015 01:42 PM

Have been using it for 2 weeks, you can see it has its reasons to be cheap. They use faster CPU, but cheap out everything else.

LCD Screen: It claims to be SHARP LCD, but found out it is from cheap Chinese maker
Screen Protector: It does not have Gorilla screen
Storage speed: 124Mb/s Read; 37Mb/s Write, which is 1/2 the speed of my LG G4
Battery: There is a slight gap, when you shake the phone hard enough, you can feel the battery giggling around.
SD card: Poor support, my Samsung card constantly get "SD needs to be formatted" message
Fast Charge: 1.3A @ 5V is called fast charging?! c'mon!

What do you expect lol. You get what you pay for. There is a reason why flagship phone cost so much. They don't cheap out on little things.

Look at 1+1 is still have the touchscreen issue to this day and there is still a yellow tinit on the screen. 1+1 try to play it low saying is fine then you see thread starts pooping on the offical forums and they try to delete them. Didn't work out too well so they admitted it was a manfacture error (something to do what they way they make screen and putting it together using an older technology which is known for these issues). But hey is cheaper right?

Now with the 1+2 lot's of people are saying there are issue with the finger print read where it doesn't unlock your phone at all. This happen when you let the phone sit till it goes to sleep mode. Also people complain of camera not focusing and pictures turn out to be burry. Doesn't happen to all device but enough for people to complain.

Their RMA is also horrible. Take weeks or even months.

Quality is another thing

I would rather buy from a honest company, this is misrepresentation! It is like claiming your car has 10 airbags, but 8 did not get installed.
