Cons:
- 503,000 kms
- needs a front engine mount
- transmission? is making a whirring noise (possibly a bad input shaft bearing)
- consumes a lot of oil
- has some rust
- shifter is rather imprecise when trying to find 3rd and 5th gears
- driver's seat doesn't match the passenger's and has an awkward recliner
- the rear hatch or something in that area is leaking water behind the driver's seat
- the alpine flip out screen is old and sometimes needs a little help with flipping up
- engine is running rich
- the gas struts for the hatch no longer work

Pros:
- mostly stock and not riced out, although I personally don't like the wing
- not so rusty that you're likely to get a VI
- has a decent (although rather old) audio system with a flip out screen and dvd player
- has great compression and pulls hard
- has a brand new clutch
- has rear discs
- everything works
- the car is tons of fun to drive!


This car was bought as a "project" between 3 friends, but things didn't really work out and we would just like the car gone at this point.

We've done a few things to the car since buying it in March:

- replaced broken driver's seat
- replaced shift linkage rods
- replaced right rear caliper
- replaced clutch and flywheel
- adjusted clutch engagement point
- added a short shifter
- replaced plug wires
- added a mk3 vw lip

I've tried to be completely honest with the cons in this ad because I want the car to go to the right owner that understands that the car does have some issues. Ideally I would like $1500 just to make back what we have into the car, but I do understand that with the condition and mileage that maybe I'm being a little too optimisitic.
