RS help find me a laptop

O.k. it's time for a new laptop but I cant find one the meets these specs.

13 to 14 inch
DVD drive or a msata port for a second drive
1080P screen if posable.
Budget under $1000 maybe more.

This one meets all the specs but it's a refurb and the review are not so good.

Apple never going to happen. Rather burn in hell.

i was in the market for the same ended up going for the MSI ge40 2pc-481us.

14"
1080p
dvd drive (bought a HDD caddy and added 2xmsata ports ~$65)

i've bought the 1st gen of this laptop and currently this is the 3rd gen, I believe its due for a refresh which will come out in the next month or so.
paid 999+tax after MIR

if your looking at eurocom, may as well order direct from sager. NP7339 is the 13" and NP2470 is the 14"

Z40 sucks ass, if you're keen on lenovo look at their y series instead I had a y480 and that thing ran like a champ (still does LOL)

Get the Eurocom M4 (Clevo W230SS)

I got the following configuration for $1000 shipped after negotiating with the sales team (my second machine from them).

13.3" IPS 1080p
Intel Core i5-4210M
8GB DDR3-1866
128GB Samsung 850 Pro
NVIDIA GTX 860M

Nice, portable, and plays all my Source games maxed out perfectly fine.

I requested it without the logos on the LCD bezel and top lid, so it's a very minimal looking laptop.

I've since replaced the 128GB with a 240GB Sandisk Ultra II and am using a 32GB SDHC as a backup drive. There are two mSATA slots in the laptop, so there are a lot of storage options.

Keep in mind that it doesn't include Windows by default, so you'll need to get your own copy.

If you have time, you can swing by some time when I'm free and check it out before ordering your own.

The MSI looks perfect but everyone is sold out. Will wait for the refresh.

Sager is significantly more expensive than ordering straight from Eurocom after factoring in currency + duties.

Another plus for Eurocom is that they negotiate and I don't believe Sager does. I know ReflexNotebooks, XOTICPC and other retailers get their builds from Sager directly, and when I asked if they could price match other retailers, they always denied.

when i imagine or maybe more, it might be within a couple hundred bucks. but your cheapest model for mac is already over 1k. add in taxes, and possibly apple care, you are looking at almost 1500+.

that is a bit over 1k, even on the maybe more side.

Gucci Mane 08-31-2015 11:03 AM

mac's are better, they just are.

Thanks for the offer but I'm in Nanaimo. Good to see I have a few options. Wonder if they will sell me one without a hard drive or ram.

lpc-digital.com is where i got my sager stuff. price matches and always gives a better deal (even factoring in exchange and sometimes he sells review models for way cheaper). Owner is Larry. Sorry should've been more clear about getting sager direct. I didn't go eurocom because their service (unless it got better) was hit and miss.

I'll give them a message next time I'm in the market for another Clevo.

Still waiting for a 14" Clevo that can go against a Gigabyte P34G or Razer Blade.
