Mifi rentals over seas.

Also known as pocket wifi?

Anyone familiar with mobile hot spot rentals? I'll be heading to China. And would love to have a mobile hotspot active for Internet when I'm there.

My friend told me that in Korea you could rent a box (mifi) mobile hot spot for roughly five dollars a day Canadian.

Is Anyone familiar with this stuff specifically in China?
Are there any company's that offer this rental that I can do locally and return when I come back?

I've done a google search on the topic and there are a few company's that do it but charge around 10 usd a day.

If anyone has any experience on this please let me know how it works and where you rented it from. Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have the answer to your question, but thought I mention that I originally saw the thread title as "Milf rentals over seas."

Thank you. Carry on and good luck.

Almost all cell phone providers sell a mobile hotspot device of some sort. It's basically a device that does the same thing as your smartphone when you enable WiFi hotspot/tethering.

If the phone you have now works with China's cellular networks, I'd recommend that you just sign up for a decent plan and use the hotspot function on your phone.

If you prefer having a standalone device, here is what they use in SK called the Wibro - http://roaming.kt.com/renewal/eng/wibro/rental.asp

am I the only one that saw Milf rental?.....

anyways, if you pass through HK airport, there is a place to rent a personal wifi device landside, but please book it in advance and figure out how to find it. The service is called WiFiBB

That won't work if you want 4G speed as China uses different LTE specifications, very rarely you will find a phone in North America that supports TDD (iPhone etc have different skus for China LTE and non China LTE models).

To the OP, you will be hard pressed to find any rental that is cheaper than just buying it outright.

Also there is a new regulation in China, you can only buy SIM card with ID.. so do everything when you get to China. You can research now but note prices and availability changes even by the city.

I have a Samsung Galaxy s6 edge plus. Do I need to unlock this phone to have it work in China? I bought it from the Samsung store.
