So how are these events like? I never gone to one before

Went tonight, car selection was meh, I guess after all it is Mazda's current lineup though. :sleepy:

When you arrive you must register with your name and signature. They check your DL make sure you have class 5 and over 19. After that there is some intro meeting or presentation which I missed cause of friday afternoon traffic. NBD.

Then you are prompted outside where there are 2 tents and 2 courses set up, one solely for Miatas (2015 Miata, 2016 Miata Auto/Manual) and the other for their crossovers (CX-3,CX-5,CX-9?) You choose which one to go whenever you want and line up.

Course is like a 30 second thing with a straight to start off following by a hairpin, slalom etc. Very short run. You are allowed to push the car however you like but no clutch dump, intentional drifting etc. Probably waiting like 5-8 minutes for one 30 second run depending which car. Crossover one was bunch of tight corners I guess to simulate how nimble they would be in a parking lot? :lawl:

After youre done theres refreshments and stuff back in the original tent, load up and do some survey and you get a pair of cheap earbuds. Overall pretty fun, worth the long drive.

what a treat, would thank OP again if I could.
lucked out with the wet tarmac and also my first nighttime course.
the staff were all really friendly, which is an icing on the cake for a free event with free food and swag
tried all 3 crossovers first thinking the line for miata would die down, nope, but still managed 3-4 runs in the miata
some photos below...left with a shit-eating grin

OoooOo. Miata offered in manual tranny at the event? Or you mean auto/manual tranny as in auto sport shift?

LP700-4 11-13-2015 11:05 PM

Nope they had like 3 manual ones, one auto and one manual 2015

I went with my bro

4 runs in the auto Miata
1 run on the CX 3
1 run on the CX5

Turn in for both CXs are very good. CX3 feels like a larger car than the CX5. Didn't really like the CX3

Miata is good, track was too short.
Honestly, for the money to buy one, I would buy something else instead

flagella 11-16-2015 07:14 AM

You drove an auto miata 4 times?

EndLeSS8 11-16-2015 07:19 AM

Yea, I can drive stick, but I haven't in over 2 years, so I didn't want to ruin their transmissions

The tracks were ridiculously short (about 25-35 seconds going fast) so you'd be in 2nd gear max
