I need a recommendation for an auto locksmith.

My ignition key is not reliably functioning. I think I need either my key recut or ignition cylinder removed and rebuilt/replaced. Are there any locksmiths on the board or does anyone have a recommendation for a good one? Thanks!

First thing I'd do is get a key cut from the VIN, from the dealership. If the problem persists, replace/recode the lock cylinder. Is this for your Civic?

If your lock cylinders had never been replaced you can get your key code from the dealer. You can use this code to cut a as-new key at a good lock smith.
If the cylinders were changed then you can get the code off the passage side door lock cylinder.
Depending on the wear of the key a good locksmith could also figure out the code from the key you have but sounds like yours is well worn.

The only locksmith I use is Dougs Locksmith in Chilliwack. They helped me out huge on my last Prelude.

What year/model/make is your car?

I was able to get my key cut from Home Depot for under 5 bucks , the only thing with that of course if they dont have they same type of blank or if your keys grooves are too worn, or if the car is too new as well

I've used Precision Locksmith in Coquitlam before. They seemed to know what they were doing. They cut from code and also can program transponder keys as well.

Had such a wonderful experience with Locksmith in Miami We lost our set of keys - including the only electronic key we had for our car. We called the dealer and got a quote for over $300 (and a weeks delay) plus having the car towed to the dealership. JP was the closest Yelp business to us so I gave him a call to see if he could help. He was at our place within an hour and did the entire repair on the spot for about $200. Amazing! Would definitely recommend him.

Do you know what he charges for cross continent emergency calls?

If it's over $85, it's unreasonable!

I always order those keys from ebay and cut them off by a Locksmith and it generally cost me around $50 in total.
