Noob Question: DVD Formats Hi Revscene, I am looking to buy a DVD as a Christmas gift for a friend living in Asia (Macau specifically.) So far, I am able to find the US version of the DVD, but not one that is region specific to Asia. Do the DVD regions apply to computers/laptops/tablets or only to DVD players? Sorry for the noob question. Thanks in advance! bcrdukes |
regions on laptops can generally be changed about 5 times before it gets locked on to that region |
Most DVD players that were produced during the last decade comes region free as default. I wouldn't worry too much. |
if they are in asia, chances are their dvd players are region free |
People still use DVDs? :seriously: But yeah in Macau their DVD player, if they still have one, will most likely be region free. |

Look for the VHS version. Then you wouldn't have this region lock problem. /thread. |
if they're using their computer/laptop/tablet then just download anydvd for them, it'll bypass the region code for the price of the dvd you might be able to get them a blu-ray player :) they're like $20-$30 now superstore no tax days ;) |
