I'm not quite in my SUV era yet, but they do become more appealing as I find getting out of my car increasingly harder.

You can always get around the driving dynamics by paying more Something like a Macan GTS would solve that problem. | The goal is to move back to Vancouver, but given macro economic trends such as the economy, political circumstances, industries stalling, and career opportunities, it's much harder to move back now.
A cousin of mine got a Macan GTS but the rear seats are really tight. We did seriously consider a Panamera GTS but holy, one thing goes wrong, it's like $15K just to replace the air suspension, or $9000 for the stupid spoiler.
I am okay with European maintenance costs, but stupid failures that are doomed to happen, no way. Not to mention, insurance for the Panamera GTS is $2900 per year whereas say the Lexus ES350 or LS500 is only a hair under $1000/year.
This secondary vehicle has to make sense financially. If all I had was Revscene money (which is all of you on this forum) this wouldn't even be a discussion. But sadly, that is not my reality hahaha
Edit: Re - wagons. We did consider an A4/A6 Allroad but they are hard to come by in decent shape/condition and reasonable mileage. They don't pop up on the market often and roastpuff was kind enough to help us find some good examples, but they're all in Quebecistan so no thank you, hard pass. Toronto Audi dealers wont even entertain a test drive unless you offered cash on the spot so they can choke on a big one.
We checked out the C and E-class Mercedes wagons and they are going for quite a premium. A7 was something to consider, but do I want to deal with an engine-out timing chain repair? I may like my broken Italian garbage and odd ball German car repairs, but I don't think I can handle Audi-level punishment.

the 2016 Panamera GTS is a wonderful car, my manager has it... that V8... but also... that fuel economy lolol.... still... I would say wagon is your answer...
and on the topic of Tesla.... honestly even with the problems, I tell my wife everyday I shouldve just splurged for a Model 3 Performance.... lolol so despite the catastrophic quality issues... I am actually hunting... for another model 3... fml...

I let a 2016 Panamera GTS slip away a few weeks ago, so I'm angry at myself for that, but it was a matter of timing. We literally just renewed our mortgage and thankfully, it didn't make a huge difference, but also with work, vacation, and this garbage winter coming around the corner, I'm okay to wait until 2024.
Are you some kind of masochist? Seeing your laundry list of issues made me sick to the stomach. I'll take a Toyota Crown hybrid, thank you.

Likewise. The price point for a 2016 model vs. the 971 generation which is a way nicer interior is within reach, but the failures start to show, and it's like
Which is why the Toyota Crown is the best of the batch. |

I wanted to do some market research here for a business idea that I'm working on.
Can all the EV drivers here on RS comment on this... do you all have access to a level 2 charger on a constant/regular basis say either at home or wherever you park your car long enough to charge it on a quasi-daily basis?
Assuming you have, how much would you pay for access fee to have level 2 charging on the go (say you go out of town for a vacay to Kelowna)?
Assuming you don't, how much would you pay for to have a level 2 charging nearby your place or wherever you'd park your car daily on a prolonged period (say parking at work... etc)?

Hard to say cuz there's super chargers. I have level 2 at home but I never need to use it, 120v is fine. Same with the other Tesla, they only have 120v and they survive.
If it's a vacation home most likely I have to stop by super charger anyways to get to Kelowna. It would be nice but I think most public chargers don't even have Tesla plug. Neither do hotels? So you literally have to advertise that your charger has the Tesla plug. I don't think anyone buys that $600 giant ass public adapter and carries it around.

There are a lot of hotels that have Tesla destination plugs (aka Tesla Level 2).

Yes - its faster
Yes - its nicer
But realistically, how often do you get to exploit the performance, whereas you get to exploit the sound of the V8 all the time... like that cold start after getting off work... Quote:

Lol, I am not (hopefully)... there is no denying that instant torque is stupendously fast, and it seems other EVs may have similar specs on paper, but no one does that gut punch more than Tesla (its like the Lamborghini intentionally cut torque between shifts just so you get "thrown" in the seat everytime you shift....)
I am a sucker for stupid shits like that looooool

I will say, the hybrid pickup on the Crown was pretty quick, but not Tesla quick. Good enough for most situations.
