It would have taken you less time to google it yourself than to make a useless thread about it.

If it wasn't mandatory, would you go on all seasons?

i wouldnt risk it.

two yrs back i left unbeknownst during a fresh dump of snow on the entire stretch to squamish.. that was fun drive. i was on snows and had my rad AWD but still. not worth the risk to be on all-crappy tires

FYI I drove up yesterday, no real snow on the S2S but even in the rain, the drainage on the road was not the best, lots of standing water in parts, and I saw a couple people almost lose it hydroplaning, and one person did lose it and smashed his car into the concrete divider nicely.

Take er easy if it's raning, you might not spot that puddle until you are right up on it, and definitely have the proper tires on.

I'm headed up the coq and beyond in about 1 hour. Luckily I loaded down my bed, and my company truck is fully outfitted for self recovery/self survival in the event I find myself in any sort of trouble.

meh.

Was on S2S 2 days ago on Pilot Super Sports, didnt die. Standing water, but expect checkpoints in snow, and expect to be turned around without snow tires.

Definitely get some good tires. They're plenty of signs stating m+s tires are now mandatory. Drove up there in heavy rain and I was hydroplaning half the time. Little did I know I had massive camber wear on my front tires. Learned my lesson. Bought new tires the second I got back in Vancouver.

Went up last weekend in my parents A4. Got all season tires with M+S on the tires with 8/32's left on the tires.

No road blocks or tire checks on the way up.

It was pissing rain so drive slow! Handled fine on Sea to Sky. It was more so Whistler when it was snowing that we drove a lot slower just to be safe.

Take the canyon if you can. Less snow and a much nicer drive.

This is the thing: the signs now show mountain/snowflake symbol or M+S designation as being suitable... M+S is aka "all seasons".

So as long as you're not on summer tires, you're legal.

"Safe" is another matter.

^true. they changed the law last year back to M+S. for about 5 years before that it was snowflake, or M+S and carry chains.

i really like Kal Tire's new advertizing. instead of all season, they now call them 3 season tires.
