CD Player: Disc Unreadable

Hey guys, My stock CD Player in 2011 C Class reads Disc Unreadable, I am looking for suggestions on how to fix the issue, I have looked on YouTube and Google but haven't had any luck

- I am not using a burned or scratched disc

- My sound works for AUX and Radio

- I tried using multiple lens cleaning CD's, when i use it with cleaning solution sometimes it temporarily fixes the problem for a few hours but then goes back to Disc Unreadable.

I believe it may have grease or film on the lens Whats the best way to clean a lens that is hard to access?

Insert disc with sandpaper attached to it........... just kidding. My Alpine head unit is doing that. Except it does read the disc, but cuts in and out. Tried all kinds of cleaners...... except the sandpaper trick.

I don't listen to CD's all that much, so I live with it.

The only way to really clean it is to remove it from the car and open it to get at the laser, I wouldn't suggest doing it without at least a tutorial as some of those slot loading things are a bitch to reassemble properly.

people still use cd's? i just stream all my music from my phone over bluetooth. just use your aux connection and ditch the cd's..

I still listen to CD's. Got some very nicely recorded/engineered CD's in my collection. My truck has an Alpine F#1 system that plays DVD-Audio discs. The sound will blow you away................ oh, nvm...... streamed music, right, forgot.

/snobbery

Too bad nobody produces DVD-Audio discs anymore. Hey, I kept my LP and 45's collection (original recordings) from 40+ years ago. They made a comeback - sort of.

Buddy, the Alpine deck and the components in my truck are not OEM. Look up "Alpine F#1 Status". The system is not your average, run of the mill system.

Those systems fail a lot. We usually just remove them so that we can replace them with a deck that has USB & Bluetooth

The Alpine deck that doesn't read discs that well anymore is in my commuter car. It is a W505. I can't imagine taking that apart to clean it is enjoyable. If it weren't for the nice iPod interface, I'd have thrown out that deck long ago.

A deck would really change the look of the vehicle in a negative way but you did put an idea in my head about having a USB added to my stock system..how possible is this?

If it's like the good old Alpine 7909.. the stock caps on the transport would go in about 7-8 yrs and the laser pick up wouldn't read the disc or just skips in and out a lot. I have replaced them with upgraded ones for many of my customers.

The F#1 is working flawlessly, knock on wood. The W505, on the other hand, is a pain in the butt.

BTW, do you still have cosmetic parts for my Nakamichi TD 1200? I pulled it out from storage the other day and my god that thing sounds so good. My friend has a Nak Dragon and he made a few recordings for me. PM me.

MG1 is an old school Audiophile. He's got top line Morel's in his other truck.

F1 Status Alpine was old school gear that Alpine made to compete with other leading speaker brands (Ie. Morel, Focal, Audison, Etc).

They didn't actually make the speakers themselves though, just like JL Audio, they just bought the speaker from another company and rebranded it.

Either or, still super high end shit :P
