raws getting processed automatically on import? hello, my ARW files from my rx100mk2 are looking fucky when imported to windows, or even viewed in windows off the memory card. this is with no sony software or apps importing the images, just double click off the card and opening with win8's photo app. actually it gets even worse when i import to picasa. same deal but way worse... its like its instagram filtering all my raws. https://i.imgur.com/hphZfYy.jpg as i said, even the stock windows photo app shows some vignetting and oversaturation, but its nowhere near as dramatic as above. still it shouldnt be happening at all. the jpgs look 10 times more plain. what gives? |
Wait, so you are printing off RAW? No editing? |
they arent prints, just side to side comparisons from picasa. i just want to have all my raws imported without any processing, which ive never had a problem with before. im not sure but i suspect its a win 8.1 setting that i dont know how to change, but i used to do all my editing on win7 with no issues |
What program are you using? The thing with RAW is that each program uses its own algorithm to process them; hence the difference in result. The way I do it is to import everything to lightroom, and then (if needed), just apply the processing profile of my choice. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/688/2...4040c80a_c.jpgScreen Shot 2015-12-17 at 1.15.27 PM by JayPhoto, on Flickr |
Don't trust what the Windows viewer is showing you. Process your RAW files properly using any of the widely available post processing software, and then view the resulting JPEG files. The default Win7 viewer shows my RAW files as something that is easily 2 stops under-exposed, and the colours are a bit funky as well. View them in LR = zero problems. |
I was trying to use Picasa as a lightweight alternative since I'm doing all my computing on a surface pro these days, but I guess there's no good way around it. I'll give LR a shot and hope it doesn't blow it up. thanks |
Capture 1 Express is free for Sony users i've only used it very briefly...seems pretty decent |
