Your pal asian_XL might disagree.

^ if you have a couple million dollars to spend, and you are making the top 10% salary range, anywhere can be the most livable city. I once asked my cousin who is Deloitte's partner in Beijing why he didn't move away from the smog, he said the same and it is true.

Oh, Timpo, if tokyo is the move livable place, then why is the suicide rate in so high there?

You can buy a mansion in the suburbs of Tokyo for about the same as a crackshack in Van, so... there's that :)

If you are Jap!

Good luck with buying one if you're a foreigner, which is near impossible to obtain a Japanese citizenship.

Tokyo is a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Kyoto on the other hand...

They do, but usually in less desirable neighborhoods.

great place to visit. i think it'd be ok to work/live there if you're not japanese (they really are moving away from the stereotypical work hours, but slowly).

not the easiest place to be if you don't speak the language, though every time i go it is getting better.
