Constant Upset Stomach Hey guys, my stomach has been bothering me for the last 2 days, constantly cramping and aching every 10-20 minutes, forcing me to go to the washroom constantly. Bowel movements have been minimal. I saw a doctor today and he told me that I should be fine within a couple days but it's getting pretty bad as I can't sit comfortably for even 20 minutes without having these pains. I'm using Pepto-Bismol but it hasn't helped in the slightest. Anybody have experience with this kind of problem or have any ideas for remedies? I'd wait this out but I have a lot of things to do and this discomfort really hinders me. Thanks in advance |
constipation? If your doc says give it a couple of days, then wait a bit? How's your diet been? good? |
Sounds like a stomach flu, had this last year and it was probably the worst week of my life. Make sure you keep hydrated |
When I was 15, I was having similar issues. Pain, cramps, massive weight loss (dropped from 130 lbs to 75 lbs within 6 months). Doctor kept shrugging it off, said it was normal for teenagers to lose weight like that, the pain and cramps are likely a result of sports, etc. We ended up switching doctors after a couple of months, and the new doc booked me for some tests, turned out I had ulcers. The ulcers were treated but I continued to have problems. He started sending me to specialists to test for allergies, cancer, etc. Basically spent the next several months in and out of hospitals on Vancouver Island, in Vancouver, and even down in Washington. After several incorrect diagnoses (Celiac, Lymphoma, etc.), it turned out that I had Crohn's disease and my intestines had been badly scarred in some areas, necessitating surgery. Seriously, if something is wrong, don't be satisfied with the doctor shrugging it off. That was an additional 2 months of pain, suffering, and damage done because the doctor decided it wasn't a big deal when it actually was. It may just be constipation or some other relatively minor thing, but it could also be something more serious. From what I can tell you as someone who has lived half his life with a gastrointestinal disease, when my gut is giving me problems, I: drink plenty of water, avoid high-sodium drinks (like Gatorade), eat lots of fiber but avoid vegetables that don't break down easily (corn, lettuce, spinach, etc.), don't use codeine or other drugs that can cause constipation/stool hardening, eat several smaller meals rather than a few large ones. |

sounds like what I experience expect mine only happens if I eat certain food. To this day I still can't figure what cause it but I learn what I should do to make it happen less. 1. Don't stuff yourself only eat till you are not hungry 2. Don't skip meals and eat lots of little snacks 3/ drink lot's of water 4. Before I go out for dinner I always take Imdoum. Seems to make the pain go away and I don't have to shit right after. I did a few test and so far they show everything is normal. When to some Chinese doctor last year and he claims I was very weak from the inside (I guess my organs are weak>). After a few months of drinking Chinese meds I felt a lot better. Maybe give them a try? |
Update OP? |

if its red it's e-coli (i had it once, almost died) if its not red, its a virus or the stomach flu (had both instances) |

I was tested for Crohn's as canker sores (a lot and constant flare up; not one or two but 5-6 a day for many months). I did a gastro and colonoscopy and was ruled out for Crohn's. Anyhoo, good luck to you. I agree, keep seeing new doctors and see how it goes. |
