You can get grass-fed butter imported from France at Les Amis Du Fromage. They have shops in Kits and East Van. About $17 for a package. Not cheap, but tastes pretty good. Depends on the time of year you purchase it though, as during the winter I believe the cows eat a mixture of grass and hay, while during the spring/summer it is all grass.

Just found out that Donald's Market, Famous Foods, Choices Market now carry this brand of Grass-fed butter from Ontario.

Approx. $9.99 for 250ml (half a pound)

Thanks for your question.

Our butter (and all of our milk products) are between 80-95% grassfed depending on the season. Summer is of course 95%, and winter being closer to 80%. Our Kiwi Pure butter on the other hand is 100% grassfed, since it comes from sunny New Zealand.

I typically don't care about this conventional vs organic produce/meat, grass-fed vs corn-fed crap, but man, once you try non-gmo natural grass-fed butter, you can taste that it's infinitely better than conventional. It's like going from processed cheese to real cheese.

Although grass fed is really important, another item to look out for is the amount of fat content in the butter. Typical butter you buy from Safeway or Superstore has a low fat content and is filled with water. Pretty much it is shit.

Whenever I go to Europe, I can't get enough of their butter that is 70%-75% fat.

There will be more country-style/artisan butter coming out this year in Canada.

Practically everything from NZ will be grass fed, so if in doubt you are usually safe buying products from there.. Anchor is the big brand, exported around the world, and confirm grass fed on their website. Tastes delicious! I'm pretty sure Australian will be good too.

That's what I do when in doubt when Anchor is sold out - I just look for something from AU or NZ that hasn't been filled with water.

In fact all beef products from NZ are really good, due to apparently strict regulations on additives, hormones, etc
