Toronto man found not guilty of Twitter harassment - win for free speech

?One man?s vulgarity is another man?s lyric?: Toronto man found not guilty in Twitter harassment trial | National Post

What a bullshit trial. It basically came down to a couple of feminists wackos talking shit about a guy and claiming that he didn't have the right to talk shit back because of safe spaces and whatever.

The judge also noted a lack of “reasonableness” in Guthrie’s assertion she could expect to use Twitter to make negative comments about Elliott and not be exposed to his response or self defence.
:fulloffuck:

What a fucking waste of taxpayer's money bringing this case to trial.
And the guy was barred from using the internet during the trial period (3 years)
Does the crown and prosecutor has nothing better to do?!

If she was so worried someone was tracking her movements, maybe she shouldn't be posting them on Twitter?

carisear 01-22-2016 02:22 PM

wow, i'd sue for being barred from the internet for 3 years. that is cruel and unusual punishment ...

man I wish those people would be on the hook to pay for all the money wasted.

sue who? the crown? good luck with that. its bullshit that his life got fucked and he probably has massive legal bills. we should all be contributing to his legal defense fund assuming he has one

he might be able to get a civil suit against his accuser, but even if he had a chance of winning i doubt if she has a enough money to be worth it.

I hope that girl and other extreme feminists die. They are honestly pieces of shit.

His case was helped by public funding in order to meet the demands of his lawyer.

Lucky he made enough to defend himself against this sjw/femenist.

Anita Sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn had enough influence to be heard by the UN to discuss online harassment the issue isn't going away just yet. UN Wants To Censor Internet To Save Feminists' Feelings

It's scary to think that so many people fail to understand basic and fundamental concepts like free speech. There's tge concept of innocent until proven guilty which feminists and SJW's would like to throw out the window despite many prominent rape allegations ending up being false. Or how jurors in the Steven Avery murder case do not understand the concept of 'beyond reasonable doubt.'

iEatClams 01-22-2016 06:12 PM

the crown prosecutor is a fucking joke. she deserves to be fired. instead of making $160K a year from taxpayers money.
Seriously, she broke down crying when the trial wasn't going her way.

on top of that this is what's what's taking up precious court time and money.

shouldn't she be after real criminals?

Then suddenly, after almost three hours into the day’s hearing, the Crown started crying. She grabbed a tissue from across the table, dabbed her eyes and apologized to the judge saying she was upset over a personal issue.

the case is a bit insane and I feel really sorry for the guy...(can't use internet, got fired because of the case, 50k+ in legal fees and all the stress and lost time)

Quote:

Evidence was introduced into the court that two of the alleged victims spread misinformation that Elliott was a “pedophile”.
Elliott’s most offensive tweet was to accuse his alleged victims of having “fat asses”.
Yet he is the one being prosecuted.

Some articles suggest the crown prosecutor and the feminist "victims" are friends and associates, so maybe that's why they were able to bring the case to trial.

nekthx 01-23-2016 07:50 PM

if they were friends. wouldn't that be more of an conflict of interest?

Hence the cant use the internet .

Yet he is the one being prosecuted.

so will there be any (or why hasn't there been any) counter suit or criminal charges laid against them if this was the case for harassment? especially since he was cleared

if these 2 indeed defamed him and set out to ruin this guy, and there were no repercussions for their actions, i find this very disconcerting and sets a bad precedence.
