New Scam targets Netflix and iTune users in the Lower Mainland
 

Scam alert! A fake bill is being sent to Netflix and iTunes users. :suspicious:

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) A scam is targeting both Netflix and iTunes users. The fake bill being sent to customers uses a few features to look real.

“They’ve got the right lingo, they’ve got the right logos, it does look very legit. That, of course, is a concern. They are so easy to set up for the tech-savvy scammer these days that it takes no time at all and, of course, costs nothing,” says Evan Kelly with the Better Business Bureau.

He says the BBB is advancing along with the scammers, and there is something you can do to check if your bill is bogus.

“If you have any issues or any concerns that it might be real or it might be fake, certainly get in contact with iTunes or Netflix.”

Evans warns there are similar scams going around related to PayPal.

Kelly says you should contact the BBB if you see any kind of suspicious activity.

I've seen those....... fokkers are getting pretty good at it. Good thing I know what I buy and when. Low life scammers.

scammers have gotten so good that i've made a habit of pretty much ignoring my emails.
that does look pretty legit at first sight though

i hope the people running it get Zika, Ebola, testicular cancer, AIDS, HIV and antibiotic-resistant syphillis

The sent from email gives it away every time but they are getting more creative with the actual email bodies. I got one of those for Itunes, I don't use it but my kid does I was like wtf is this for a second and then I checked where it came from.

If I did have an issue with a bill I wouldn't follow the instructions in an email I'd call Netflix or Itunes and find out wtf.

TIL we get charged VAT and not GST/PST. Shady bastards in government I tell ya.
