helping frds/family install HID into stock halogen projectors ... any private modders :troll: have experience doing so?

I've already done retrofit on my own car with stock reflector bowls but it's too time consuming for non car ppl that don't know anything about perfect cut-offs

I know squirrel finders will produce some glare but is it actually blinding to other motorists on the road considering 80-90% of the beam will be aimed down and focused?

car is 09 tC and 09 venza

Why don't you install it, and then drive in your own car towards the car that you put the HIDs in with the lights on.

I'm sure it'll be annoying, but maybe not as bad as HIDs in reflectors.

That being said, you've already put them in there. I highly doubt you're going to say "oh, hmm, that's quite more annoying then I thought - I'll remove them for the sake of others". Why even bother asking lol

that isnt' my pic...I just want to know if the idea is even worthwhile if other private modders have already tried it and can give their experience.

A projector retrofit really isn't that difficult. Having had bi-xenon H4 HIDs in the OEM reflector beam and now a proper projector retrofit, I can say with confidence that I should've gone with the projector retrofit route in the first place, to save myself all the headaches and paranoia of my HIDs in reflector housing blinding everyone (which I know they did a little bit, the standard reflector design of the Element was a farce).

Putting aside the blinding aspect, a projector retrofit is much brighter and focuses the light so much more effectively on the road rather than all over the place on all the road signs.

Projector retrofits seem pretty intimidating, I was scared as hell when I first did mine, but the end result was so worth it and it was ultimately a relatively painless process given the amount of DIYs online. Honestly the most annoying thing was removing the headlights and the bumper from the vehicle.

That's only if you buy proper projectors. There is a reason why S2000 projectors are so sought after that companies make fakes of them.

There are cheap knock off projectors that are horrible. The light is focused in one hot spot with very little light that is projected to the sides. So definitely do your research and buy some nicer projectors.

and buy your projectors, and put them in. It's not that expensive, and all their retrofit kits are excellent quality.

It's not like you have to buy S2k projectors to get good quality.

You might have been correct back in the day when everyone would buy either FX projectors, or S2k projectors because those were the best, but these days there are plenty of places you can buy nice quality ones.

I've already gone the TRS/morimoto route with my own car

i dont believe in hacking up OEM parts so I bought rep headlamps for my retrofit so it ended up being quite costly

i wont have the time/energy to go through that process again...which is why I'm simply asking if anyone has tried PnP HID into stock halogen projectors; is there blinding glare or nah?

Had PnP HID's in my old ITR. They worked. There was some light scatter but not as bad as HID's in a reflective housing.

Meme, I am talking about people cheaping out and buying retro fit projectors off ebay or DX cause they are $100 vs $400usd for the nicer FXR kit from TRS.

Hell, I helped install a set of miniH1's in a Festiva and the light output on them sucks. Honestly, that was $270usd wasted. The output on them were very center focused with very little light to the sides.
