Witness Needed - 5:30pm Kingsway and Clark March 3 2016

Hi Revscene, I was hoping somebody here may have witnessed this accident.

At approximately 5:30pm, a marked cop car in Lane 1 was speeding Eastbound down Kingsway through Little Saigon, ran a red light at Clark drive and smashed into another vehicle. The driver that bore the brunt of the impact was rushed to Emergency and is a member of Revscene community.

If anybody witnessed this, can you please PM me, that would be greatly appreciated at this time.

Thank you

any chance theres a video camera in the cop car?

willystyle 03-03-2016 07:55 PM

Did the sirens/lights go off?

6o4__boi 03-03-2016 08:11 PM

My mother in law lives in that area...when my wife still lived at home, I had some close calls with cops that rip through reds/speed pass on the right without lights on the way to the esso timmys
That same thing almost happened to me on the Victoria diversion.

I would definitely pursue any footage from that squad car if it exists. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's experienced something similar. Hope your buddy is ok.

Sue the VPD if no lights or sirens.

Seriously?

An RS member could be pretty seriously injured judging by those images, even as a joke your posts are distasteful.

If you witness an accident legally you are required to stay at the scene, so whats in it for you is that you don't go to jail.

OP good luck finding a witness I hope the driver is either okay, or recovers fully.

EndLeSS8 03-04-2016 06:46 AM

That looks BAD

I hope your friend makes a speedy recovery

edit: I wasn't exactly there, but I was driving around the area at that time yesterday (trying to buy Tung Hing Vietnamese sandwiches), traffic was SOOO BAD, cops had Kingsway blocked off with other cop cars, and everyone was re-routed to the smaller streets. It was a big mess)

jjson 03-04-2016 08:45 AM

Damn... hope the driver recovers quickly

There goes another clean DC5 :(

jinxcrusader 03-04-2016 11:16 AM

Wow that accident looks really bad...

invader 03-04-2016 11:25 AM

Squad cars have ongoing dash cam and microphone do they not?

radioman 03-04-2016 11:41 AM

Ya one would think squad car cam should be enough in this situation.

Hope he recovers.

jeedee 03-04-2016 11:56 AM

i hope your friend is alright / makes a speedy recovery

Police cars also have black boxes that record things such as speed of the vehicle and whether emergency equipment was activated or not.

Only cars doing traffic and it's only on if they've stopped someone.

Can anyone confirm about you being legally required to stay at scene if you witness an accident? I know you are if you are the one involved in the accident...not too sure about being just a witness.

I would be happy to leave my information but I won't be staying if I have urgent matters to tend to but if it's a bylaw, that would be a different story.

If true... protecting officers much?
There's really no excuse why a VPD car shouldn't have a dashcam rolling at all times.
For their own protection, and for others as well.

And siren or not, it's still the officer's duty to slow down and check for perpendicular traffic if running a red light in the middle of the day during rush hour.
You don't just speed through assuming the intersection will be clear. So hypothetically if his sirens were on, exactly how fast did the cop get to his destination??

He didn't, because instead, he got into an accident.

geeknerd 03-05-2016 01:50 AM

IME, the vpd and rcmp will never be at fault.

Totally untrue. I handle a lot of their claims and they're at fault a lot so you can drop your conspiracy theories... And if they weren't Code3 (lights and sirens) at the time of this accident it's their fault. If they were, it's the RSX driver's fault.

Ferra 03-05-2016 06:33 AM

but..but...is a cop car....police will be honest about what happened even if there are no witness...right?

Why not? They have nothing to lose, it's not like they get disciplined if it's their fault or their personal insurance/assets are exposed at all because that's not the case. There's nothing at stake but pride for them on a personal level. And, like I already said earlier, they can't lie about lights/siren because the black box will say whether that equipment was activated.

IMO you're a million times worse off with the general public hitting you and being liars, they have a lot to lose financially and a large percentage of people will say anything to get out of their fiduciary duties.

Mr.Money 03-05-2016 10:16 AM

i seen a cop crash smash into a light pole during the winter time....
Nobody fucking knew besides them & the tow truck company i use work for as manager
