Remember when had a laugh about an E30 M3 once owned by our Editor-at-Large, Sam Smith, sold for $58,000? That was funny. Now a dealer in Ohio is looking to get $199,990 for a 1991 M3 that's claimed to have the lowest mileage of any E30 M3 in the U.S. Is this dealer insane?

Well, considering a much-rarer (though higher mileage) 1990 M3 Convertible recently sold on eBay for $71,322 , the Enthusiast Auto Group is probably asking a bit much. Still that convertible had over 40,000 miles, whereas this 1991 coupe has just over 6000. It was originally used as a promotional pace car at Lime Rock, before being sold to racer David Hobbs to help Lime Rock fund a repaving.

The seller claims its had one owner since 1991 and the car appears to have lived a pampered life. The pictures included in the listing show a clean interior, though interestingly, no shots of the engine or other mechanicals are provided.

A great car for sure, but worth $200,000? Probably not, since it's not like this is a rarer Sport Evolution model, or something of the like. Thanks to its condition and ownership by Hobbs, it's worth a decent chunk of change, but not triple the cost of a new M3.

Interesting..
Hope there will be more on this

200k for an e30 m3 from EAG isn't a new thing. Not sure why people are surprised. This is really making the rounds, and giving a shitty dealer more publicity, which is exactly what they hoped for. They sold Paul Walkers old e36 m3 LTW as well for 199k with 99miles on the odometer.

What makes them a shitty dealer? Outside of completely fucking older model BMW pricing everything I've read says for those willing to pay, their cars are the best of the best.

The rusty floor Dakar sedan for 17k, the byzanz e36 with milage issues that weren't disclosed. Deceiving sellers who specifically refused to sell to dealers by having staff members pose as private buyers who actually wanted to buy the car to ummm, drive....
They have some great cars, some shit cars, all priced as if they are the best and sold as such.

As nice as it is, 200k for 25yr old sheet metal is a ridiculous amount to pay

I don't think anyone should care about this much, given that it's going to be bought by some rich knob who will never drive it and just wants it for bragging rights.

A red e30 m3 on the island was just appraised at 80k. Value on these things keeps on moving up. Crazy
