best and cheapest way to send money to USA?

Gotta send my buddy ~500 USD and don't want to pay paypal conversion rates.

Any ideas?

Western Union and or your own bank.

Unsure how much the fees are but I would imagine the bank option would be the most unless maybe the other person is using the same bank.

why not email it to him?

If he's fine with receiving CDN funds (after USD conversions);

e-transfer from your personal bank to his email address? Cost is $1.50 each transaction with TD (not sure about other banks)

Option 1;
If you have a US Dollar account within your BANK account, you can send an interact e-transfer to his account if he has a US Dollar account as well, otherwise conversions will occur, as he has the option of choosing which one of his accounts he wants to deposit into.
The USD buying rate from most banks generally is 0.04-0.06 cents short of the SELLING RATE
So his bank would most likely buy it at $1.23-1.24 which isn't great.

Option 2;
US Bank Draft / Money Order / Travelers Cheque
Payable to him, this way when he deposits it, he will have the option of converting the monies into CDN or leaving it as is in USD.
The downside is, you'd have to mail it to his mailing address in the states.

Good luck

I'd just EMT it through your online banking, the fee is usually $1.50

look up "online forex". Been using xetrade.com, but have other accounts too. Rates are better than banks. but for your amount, it's not going to be a huge difference.

You set up the trade on their website. then use bill pay in your bank account to send the money to them. They dump it in the receivers USD bank account. free transaction options.

I'd use bitcoin, especially easy if he's already aware and set up for it
