lol what do people use these for? I remember in 2010 it was all about crysis, farcry, left 4 dead, battlefield etc.

Do people really need this much power?? I just play counter strike global offensive which needs approx 200 FPS. what card can give me that much power on a 24 inch monitor 120hz?

edit: i am using an ATI 5850 from 2009..... plays it fine at 120 FPS at low res and med settings which says something about this game lol..... 7 years lasting strong on my overclocked video card!!

Mostly to do with resolution. A lot of people are playing at 2K and 4K resolution now, and a lot of the single cards on the market can't push that many pixels to be 60fps smooth on ultra.

I still prefer 1080p, so my 980TI pretty much maxes everything that I play. Only thing that it has troubles with is Hitman, but that game is an unoptimized piece of shit, lol.

Razor Ramon HG 05-19-2016 10:20 PM

By the way, now is a good time to get a 980TI.

You can probably snag one for like $550 on Craigslist with the enthusiasts all dropping them in anticipation for the 1080.

GTX 1070 should be around that price with better performance than Titian X, not sure 980TI is a good buy anymore.

Vale46Rossi 05-20-2016 10:55 AM

I am still using my 780TI, but maybe its time for an upgrade.... not like I really need it more of a want thing

I can't wait to see what the mobile offerings will benchmark at

Same here

It should be pretty beastly - I upgraded this year from a 680M to a 980M and that was a pretty big jump, the 1080M should be even crazier

some leak say the 1070 and 1080 performance gap is much larger than 970 and 980. price of 1070 is only slightly cheaper than 980. Can't wait until 10 Jun launch.

which combination should I pick?
1. Dell U3415W + 1080
2. Asus PG348Q (gsync) + 1070

Razgriz 05-22-2016 08:52 AM

At NCIX it looks like the card is $909.99 all around.

GeForce GTX 1070 performance preview: goodbye, 980 Ti | PC Gamer

$380 US for the 1070, and the benchmarks don't look too shabby at all either.

kchan 05-29-2016 09:27 PM

yea it appears stock for stock the 1070 beats the 980ti at 4k, 2k, and 1080p

but the 980ti can easily get 10-20% more performance by overclocking it - which will still edge out to be better than the 1070

but for the price of the 1070 - you cant complain at all...

still deciding between 1070 or 1080 since i do mainly 1440p144hz gaming.. but rumor has it that ncix non-fe 1080 are only $20 less than the FE cards which makes no sense when nvidia announces it to be ~100 usd cheaper..

Manic! 05-31-2016 10:29 AM

Non founders edition EVGA GTX 1080 super clocked is on NCIX for $884.99.

If I buy a GTX 1070 and use it with my i3 dual core from 7 years ago, I should be able to notice an FPS increase from my ati 5850 still correct?

Averaging 120fps in CS GO :) , playable but wouldnt mind smooth butter. Will buy parts as time progresses obviously and place the 1070 in it.

It's more CPU intensive than GPU intensive.

1070 for csgo is overkill

the card will be sleeping

Verdasco 05-31-2016 12:41 PM

thx for suggestions guys, if its too much overkill, whats a good budge GPU for around $200-300? $500.00 seems a bit overkill for cs go lmao

Vansterdam 05-31-2016 01:31 PM

lmao 1070 just for csgo :lawl:

would love to rock the 1080 on Arma 3 or GTA with the realisitic HD mod

but with the VR getting better that would be my reason to upgrade

AMD Teases Radeon RX 480: Launching June 29th For $199

asian_XL 06-01-2016 02:32 AM

crossfire the 480 will be as quick as 1080...and still 200dollar cheaper

EndLeSS8 06-01-2016 09:22 AM

AMD is really stepping up with their prices, but their drivers....

Then again NVidia drivers lately have been.... :okay:

how does this compare to nvidias offering for the similar price range?

$199 is so cheap to pass imo but I have a 120hz monitor with DVI cable for the frequency usage. Do i have to use DVI to HDMI or Display port?

AMAZING..... so much performance for $199.99 :O
