Reasonable towing
 

Need to get my lowered car towed from north delta to richmond. Already searched the forums and found lots of places, however all the threads are old and the places are no longer in business. Anyone know of a good reasonable towing company to get from north delta to richmond for a decent price. Google maps says it's 20KM, and roadway towing said $150 which I find ridiculous. Any help is appreciated

Have a BCAA membership?

You can also rent a car trailer for cheap from U-Haul if you have access to a vehicle with decent towing capacity.

He's the guy we use to tow lowered cars and stuff. Charges very fair. Usually about $60-80. Not sure about 20kms.

Just signed up for BCAA. Called a ton of places, all want around $100. BCAA plus membership is $99, and they let you use your first tow right away but charge a bit extra. So it's a no brainer. The woman I spoke with, said I can pay for my new membership fee and the extra fee right to the tow truck driver when he shows up and it will be $115.

Depending on how lowered the car is, you might want to put in a request for a flat bed.

Does BCAA charge extra for requesting a flat deck? Or is it just part of their service, now that I'm a new member I can request

they actually charge extra for a flatbed if your car doesnt require one.

Example : i owned a prelude, its FWD, doesnt require flatbed but because it was lowered i asked for a flatbed. First time the guy who got the call to come get me had the flat from the get go, so whether i requested or not it would have been a flat so i wasnt going to get charged.

He told me going forward if my car doesnt fit in a regular tow truck and i request a flat, they charge 35$ per call. i took the plunge to test if my lowered car will make it with just the regular tow truck and it was fine. HOWEVER, if the driver doesnt feel comfortable towing your lowered car in his regular truck, he will call a flat for you and you will be charged.

i believe flats are standard on all AWD vehicles, unless a regular tow truck has the wheel dollies to put under the car.

I had called bcaa for a tow and specifically asked for a flatbed, and a regular tow truck shows up and said you don't decide if you need one, I do. Then the idiot says, your car is too low to tow. haha told her to just leave

when i used bcaa i got a flat bed for my subaru. i just reminded them my car is awd and to please tow it properly so she sent a flatbed. no extra charge.

Jason @ Hooked on Towing 6048074360 hooked up a flat bed tow from Richmond to Vancouver for about $70, which was almost half of what everyone else quoted me. This was 5 months ago.

I got stranded, called BCAA and joined immediately over the phone. Requested a flat bad for lowered FR vehicle and they didn't charge me. I guess I was lucky?

Edit: After this post I needed a jump start, jumper cables weren't powerful enough as the battery was fairly flat. BCAA came, jump started, left in 8 minutes. Love it.

However I never used the tow previous year, I just feel it would be more cost efficient if I was to ever use it as they allow 5 free tows/year

Do you know if BCAA allows you to tow a car that is not yours?

I am thinking of buying a dead SUV from the seller in Maple Ridge (craigslist) to my storage near the dump on marine. I did not plan on getting insurance on it or even filling out the buyer part of the transfer papers.

^ it needs to be insured if any part of the vehicle is on the road (ie being towed with 2 wheels on the ground = needs insurance, on a flatbed = no insurance needed). BCAA will tow a vehicle that isn't yours but if you're not already a member a day plate would be cheaper.
