*ATTENTION* Car Broken Into

Be on the lookout for 12" Dual MTX Terminator Subwoofers. They were stolen from my car on June 1st between 6-9PM in the Oakridge Centre Parking Lot. If anyone has any information feel free to PM me.

Did your alarm go off ? So curious... I would never expect a newer infinity to be broken into.

I'm not sure. It was night time and I was at work. The security guard strolled by and saw my car was broken into. They didnt break any of the glass but opened the trunk so im not sure why the alarm wouldnt work.

Did you ask for a security footage?

ilovebacon 06-02-2016 01:34 AM

i didnt know the sedan had key holes, even though you have that unlock and lock button.

Yup. They don't have cameras in the parking lot unfortunately.

It's for backup incase there's no battery or its completely dead.

ijaz_97 06-02-2016 02:11 AM

Turns out whoever broke into my car knew what they were doing. Apparently in Infinitis if you jam a screwdriver into the keyhole and twist left it lowers both front windows. Way to go Infiniti.

jaemc 06-02-2016 07:09 AM

Acura's have the same feature on certain models. Key in and turn and the windows will go down.

godwin 06-02-2016 07:24 AM

Most cars from 00 - 2008 have that problem

VW, Acura, BMW etc.

JHatta 06-02-2016 07:40 AM

MKIV VW's were notoriously easy to do this to.

This is why I removed the key hole on my car.

How did you remove it? Did you fill in the keyhole?

IIRC we removed the lock from the latch mechanism and replaced it with a blank lock instead.

What will you do when the battery dies in your key and you need to manually unlock it? Unless of course you have a backup key

JHatta 06-02-2016 08:18 AM

I have a battery backup in my trunk, which I can connect to the 12V outlet in the trunk, which is enough to power my door locks. I can then unlock my doors and get at my battery.

underscore 06-02-2016 09:26 AM

So the keyhole is for backup in case the battery dies, yet it's tied to a feature that could only work if the battery is working?

Brilliant!

godwin 06-02-2016 03:39 PM

For the European cars like VAG, BMW you can buy a blank that replace the keyhole.. usually come primed so you have to get it painted. It slots and cover where the key cylinder used to be.

Can you get this from the dealer?

underscore 06-02-2016 04:54 PM

Wouldn't it be better to just disconnect the wiring going to the keyhole? That way you still have your emergency way in but a thief can't use it to pop the windows.

Gh0stRider 06-02-2016 05:05 PM

was your sub box bolted down?

Presto 06-02-2016 05:12 PM

looks like it was held in place with the Lexus carpeting
