Reprogramming compustar security system So the previous owner of my car broke the original compustar remote that came with the car. Is it possible to buy a new remote and program it to the brain? If so who do I have to go to get this done? I don't know the model of the compustar either how do I find out? |
Yes you can absolutely. Go to Soundsgood. I think it has to be done by dealer. There is a sequence that must be followed with On off on off of ignition etc. Berz out. |
Yes you can buy a remote and program it. But you need to know which model brain you have. For example, newer remotes can't be programmed to older brains so you need to know what brain you have so you can find out which remotes are compatible. To find out the model, you need to find the brain, which is most likely hidden under your dash somewhere. I've successfully programmed a Compustar 9000 doing the ignition on/off sequence myself, so you might be able to do it too. Or you can visit one of the RS sponsors and pay them to do it all for you. |
Would the rs sponsor have remotes from older model of the compustar? Will any old remote off of eBay craiglist etc work? |

Just drop in. |
You may be able to save a few dollars by buying online.. but it's very possible that you could end purchasing an incompatible remote. Best to see someone in person and try before you buy. Soundsgood is a great choice. |
If you're antenna is exposed there should be a part number on it (ie. 1WAM-ANT). We're a Compustar dealer also. So pop by whichever is closest to you and I'm sure one of us can help you out. We'll likely even have the part in stock. |
Thanks guys. My car is again out of commission and off the road until issue is solve. but will drop by one of the rs sponsor when its up and running again! |
