Home Alarm System: Windows/Door Contact How and where can I buy them? Are they brand/model specific? Just had my windows replaced, need to re-install contacts. Thanks! |
Most electronic wholesalers should carry them. They're not brand specific but you just want to get N/C contacts. You just need to solder the two leads to the wires sticking out of your window frame. The 'BCIT' standard is the yellow and green but if you are unsure, use a multimeter to check the continuity of the loop. |

The headaches caused by the inevitable false alarms you'll experience probably don't outweigh the cost of hiring a trained professional to properly do the job for you. |

Solder the contact's leads to the wires and then silicone it in place. Position the magnet on the sliding part of the window; test fit it with tape before securing in place with silicone. |

He's probably thinking of the rectangular exterior mounted switches as it seems that the OP has wires sticking out of the wall. The ones posted above aren't visible as they mount inside the window frame for a much cleaner look. |
