E300 rear view mirror
 

Trying to figure something out, dad got a E300, was told to not put a Broadway rear view mirror as it has a sensor.

Is that really legit? Yes if there are high beams, I can understand the mirror might "auto" adjust, but aside from that, my dad sees the benefit of having a bigger rear view mirror.

i wanted to call BS on the rear view mirror sensor that it'll "ruin" the car lighting sensors etc blah blah blah.

I would encourage your dad to not put on a broadway mirror. When my mom asks me for help put stupid shit in the car, I usually make up some lame ass excuse on why it won't work. In your case you already have an excuse to use. It forces the driver to shoulder check and be more aware of surroundings. When your dad has to drive another car, he'll be less likely to shoulder check since he's used to starring at the mirror. I've seen passengers put down the sun shade and knock the mirror off and cause a big distraction.

Back to your question. No idea. See if there is a way to turn off auto headlights. It's usually something you can change yourself. My VW has a sensor in my mirror but it only does auto-dimming, which wont impact anything.

I know that it does have some sensors in it, auto dimming for one, which other ones i'm not sure. It might even have the rain sensor in it for the auto-wipers. Either way i'd leave it.

Auto-dimming, microphones for Bluetooth, interior temperature sensor are some possibilities.

My C-class has the home-link in the rear view mirror, might be true for the E as well?

How new/old is theE300? Some Mercedes have auto side mirror tinting. The sensor are on the rear view mirror. Also the rear view most likely have auto tint too, why would you want to cover that up with a crappy mirror?

I personally like the mirrors because it gives me an opportunity to see everyone who sits in the back seat when I'm talking to them and vice versa.

purpose of the wide mirrors are to have a greater view of the blind spots on your vehicle.

The 2015 E300 should have blind spot warning on the side mirror.
