Vandals use paint to ruin new North Vancouver home - NEWS 1130

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A home in North Vancouver won’t be move-in ready as soon as the owners were hoping after police say vandals poured over 15 cans of paint throughout it. There is extensive damage after the paint was dumped over appliances, counters, hardwood floors, toilets, in the fridge, on the walls and on the carpeted stairs.

Yesterday, the contractor of the home on Mackay Avenue got to work and was surprised after realizing culprits had broken in overnight. The home was a week away from being moved into and the builder thinks the damage is well over $80,000.

“This appears to be a break and enter with intentional malicious willful damage displaying a total disregard for someone’s personal property,” says Corporal Richard De Jong. “Someone out there will have paint on themselves from throwing that much paint around and likely will be boasting about their criminal behaviour to someone.

anyone else think the vandals could have picked a better colour than a neutral grey?

I've seen this before, 'twas a dispute between the general contractor and the painting company.

Were there 15 cans of paint sitting in the house? I can't imagine random vandals lugging in that much paint and dumping it. Paint isn't cheap?!

That's what I was thinking since the paint in the fridge seems to match the wall paint.

New home owners didnt like paint, making insurance pay for new paint job :P

Judging by the type of colors and amount of paint used, they were probably mistinted quarts. Probably $2.50-$3 per quart. (I used to work in a paint store, along with other RS members on here)

buy few more quarts in different colour and turn the wall into this

I've got friends in real estate and they've mentioned this stuff happening before on a smaller scale, such as graffiti.

Ranged from someone who lost a bid on the house to angry construction workers not paid properly to contractors getting screwed

anti-gentification people around commercial drive have been fucking with houses for years now.

sad part is, some of the new construction they fuck with arent just developers tearing down and flipping properties, it's long time residents simply upgrading their homes.
